Over 12 Mln Baht Worth of Crystal Meth Seized in South

The Surat Thani border patrol police arrest a man who is part of a network of drug dealers in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and seize 12 million baht worth of narcotics.

Forty-year-old Rawee Kaewsom was arrested by Surat Thani narcotics border patrol police division 417.

The suspects were picked up as they were delivering narcotics to a customer at the Makro department store's parking lot on Chonkasame Road, in Muang District of Surat Thani Province.

The 3.8 kilograms of ice that was found has a street value of 12 million baht.

The suspect confessed to the crime, saying that he was paid 15,000 baht each time he picked up the drugs from the Surat Thani train station and delivered it to clients.

The police do not believe his confession because they have found out that he is affiliated with of a network of drug dealers connected to a prisoner currently being held in a Nakhon Si Thammarat prison on drug charges.

The police are confident that the inmate ordered the suspect to deliver the drugs to customers.

According to the police investigation, the suspect was arrested and charged for possession of 180 methamphetamine pills seven years ago and was just released from prison in the middle of last year.

Last month, the suspect delivered three kilograms of the drug 'ice' to an undercover narcotics agent.

The suspect was able to evade arrest, however, so police have been working to further expand their investigation.
