How To Remove A User From A Pm Conversation

A PM discussion thread has drifted into a topic that I believe is offensive to one of the earlier participants.

Is there any way that we can prevent our subsequent replies going to that member, to save him the offence?

If I "Block" that member, will my replies still go to him?

Will each of the other participants have to separately block him?

Yes, all participants have to exclude him.

It may be easier to just start a new conversation that does not include the one who may be offended

On a related topic, and in a different conversation, I read that "XXXX has left the conversation"; how does he do that then? Does that mean he is blessed with oblivity towards the future inane banalities that the rest of us exchange. I'm right jealous now...

Or if I send a message on that conversation "Oi, get back here now" will it suddenly bring him back to the nut-house?
