I've been using voipdiscount.com for a couple of years. Dirt cheap but quality lacks a lot, particularly on calls to USA. Would a VOIP/SIP provider with servers located in Thailand improve the quality? I'm sure it would for calls to Thai numbers, I'm guessing also to overseas numbers?

Thaitelephone.com lists calls to Thai numbers at 45 satang/min - 70 satang/min peak - even the peak price is half what I pay AIS for local calls, so if the quality is decent there may be money saved with this. Unfortunately Thaitelephone.com don't really seem interested in doing business judging by how complicated it is to load up credits. Choices are: going to 7-11 to buy credits, pay with credit card (no thanks, I have some bad experiences using my credit card in Thailand), make a bank transfer, print the receipt and fax it to them. In other words, not really feasible.

I'm sure with all those specialists we see in this forum there must be several with good experince of Thai VOIP/SIP solutions? What are y'all using? (note, it has to be a SIP account i.e. no Skype).

I use for a while voizplus.com. Installed it on my Android and it works. What annoys me, though, is that all numbers in my phone are in international format +668... but you can dial in VoIP mode only if the number is in the local format 08...So every time I make a phone call I need to change this manually.

Now I came across nullcall.com. Their service is cheaper and it works from my computer with a client installed, but cannot get it working on my phone. See also this topic:

Update: With SIP Droid installed, nullcall.com works, I can use the international number format but it overrides the caller ID settings - so my call comes from some obscure mobile number.

The 7/11 option doesnt sound complicated at all.

Their listed prices dont include VAT so they arent as cheap as they seem (for some destinations it would be cheaper for me to use my Thai mobile).

Personally I use Sipgate, Terrasip and Voipgain. I have no problems with quality over my Sophon cable connection.

Going to 7/11 is more complicated than Paypal, but year, when I'm over the flu I might give that a shot. Supposedly there's a way to transfer funds on the phone to them as well but I wasn't able to make that happen.

I know they will not be the cheapest VOIP option, but they're still cheap enough, if only the rest would be ok.

So which one of those 3 you use is best? Again, quality and stability on calls both local and international, is the highest priority, as long as the calls are cheaper than AIS the price is secondary.
