Jingthing
The rules (next year) should be voted on Including the matter of whether or not mods should be included. That seems fair on the face of it. But there is a flaw in that idea really because there are three logical choices. Include them in one contest, include them in a separate contest, or exclude them entirely. That would confuse the issue and make a result unclear. Given that, I think it would be just be easier and fairer to simply have two contests. Edited December 31, 2011 by Jingthing

It ain't rocket science but you don't need to be so simple minded either. There are two choices there for including the mods in some way, and only one choice for not including. Thus you have created a bias, splitting the vote of those who want to include the mods in some way (my preference, two contests). The only fair way to do that by vote is to do TWO pure votes. First -- mods in some way or totally excluded Then if mods in some way wins Second -- mods in the same pool with the 99 percent as was done this year (meaning in my view mods will ALWAYS win) or mods in their own separate contest Now I do think TWO polls to decide this basic thing is definitely OVER THE TOP. So again to me the most logical and fair choice is simply to go with two separate contests. Professional level visa advisers like Lopburi3 for the visa forum and professional seasoned nurses like Sheryl in the health forum are ALWAYS every year going to be the most valuable content contributors here. That is a given. Where is the drama there? Where is the fun for non-professional, non-affiliated content contributors? Forgetting the rude, predictable charges of sour grapes which I frankly don't care a wit about, what chance would an oddball character winner like Ianforbes ever have against INSIDER contributors? To serve as a charicature of political correctness d. To include as many smutty eruphemisms in the instructions as possible and leave him to it. OK, it turns out it is very doable to do a clear poll that fairly covers the question of mod inclusion, so why yap about it, here it is: Edited December 31, 2011 by Jingthing

Sorry to be late in replying, I wasn't aware of this contest until sbk alerted me, as I had to make an emergency trip back home due to a death in the family. So this honor has provided me a spot of cheer at a particulalry good point in time. I'm not sure I deserve the award but i will certainly do my best to live up to it! Happy New Year to one and all. Sheryl happy new year! If anyone deserves an award it is you! There is on going discussion about whether you (and other mods) should be excluded from the poll. The latest reasoning is that you are a professional in your field and will always win on that basis. I disagree with that supposed logic. Jingthing - I didn't want to say anything and tried to not express my opinion as might be seen as someone with a vested interest. But my opinion really has nothing to do with being a mod, and it is this: Sheryl may indeed be a professional with expert knowledge in her field. But so are a number of other members on this forum. Some are engineers some are financiers some are architects some doctors dentist lawyers etc etc So a number of people have expert knowledge. And each one of them that share those expert knowledge are appreciated for doing so. Why should Sheryl (or lop for that matter) be excluded for doing exactly what other members do? Anyhow. Just my thoughts. By the way I didn't vote. Ohhh and Sheryl in case u missed it. Your prize is a nice chocolatey drink with me. No kidding Happy new year everyone and thank you to each and everyone of thaivisa members for your contribution and support.
