i will be in bangkok in about 10 days, can you tell me if i can walk from the silom/sathorn area to the ramada encore on soi 10, thanks for the help...

It's about 3 km if you walk down soi 10 to the tobacco company, so if you can stand the heat, no problems.

I tried a similar walk a few months back and found my route through the Tobacco Monopoly blocked by gates designed to keep traffic out. New in town, I didn't attempt to go through closed, guarded gates (though I did walk unmolested through an open guarded gate), nor did I walk a bunch to find an open gate, and I didn't see any access points to the above ground walkway that looks so appealing on the maps.

I'm not saying it can't be done- just that it wasn't straightforward following the map I had. Get better instructions and/or a better map than I had.
