Same reason why England get nowhere with tennis because there's no good coaches...no money.

Or it could be that in Australia, there is clear blue sky and sunshine most of the year, which means that alot more time for the kids on the tennis court..... :o

A youth scout from a English prem side said that Australian lads are alot more advanced in soccer skills compaired to English lads of the same age ( 12 - 14 ), coz they are able to go out and kick the ball all year round...but its when they hit their mid teens, that they drift of to other sports or the coaching just isnt there, very few in the past how continued on with the sport to to high level.......that may start to change now....

That will all change when you get Television introduced to your country Fly.

:D

They'll need electric as well :D

<deleted> has that got to do with anything? It just proves that all that money your government spent has worked...not specifically the quality of the people. Our guys had to pay for their own flights at the '96 olympics for instance.

Same reason why England get nowhere with tennis because there's no good coaches...no money.

Take away all the Olympic Champions who australia has bought from other countries Russiann Boxers, Tennis Players Pole Vaulters Skiers iceskaters and that just leaves your swimmers, who mostly come from queensland, take away all your foreign imports and the Wallabies would not be much cop either, the quickest way to get australian citizenship is win an olympic medal for another country :D nignoy

I was going to have a go at this idiocy, NingNong, but obviously you're either a great humourist or not the full quid. I note you migrated to Thailand from Australia (Qld) and are probably, originally, a 10 Pound tourist from pommy land. I also note that when your other half was ill you went back to Oz for medical treatment, so I find this stupid attempt at putting down a country that has given you so much for so long a little pathetic.

Your feeble attempt to belittle Australias sporting prowess (particularly in comparison to england) just cannot hold water. But I wont waste my time refuting your idiot statements.

OOps seemed to have touched a nerve, truth does seem to hurt abit :D by the way ,was not a 10 quid tourist, was invited by the Australian government to come out to Brisbane and Sydney and pass my knowledge onto Australian Youth and teach them a trade!! My wife was medivacced back to Australia on recommendation of her thai doctor. Australia has not given me anything I have not earned you tosspot :o I completed My 3 year government contract and retired here in Queensland , we have not emigrated to thailand yes we have a couple of houses over there ,we like to split our time between thailand and australia and even europe occassionly when needs arise, dont take everything so personal ,travel a bit broaden your horizons ,try and leave your mark as I have made mine with the young people I have trained throughout the world Nignoy :D

Ok, you seemed to have proved my second hypothisis. :D I'm surprised to hear you still live in Australia considering your many new topics seeking advice on various aspects of migration to Thailand. While I like a good, informed debate on sporting matters, I'm surprised that you put down your adopted country with such ignorant remarks.

Your statement that you were invited by the Australian Government to teach Australian youth a trade doesn't really make sense (unless it was something to do with your military career), but it would suggest you didn't even pay the 10 quid to get here. I am curious to hear what great skill you had to impart on Australians, but will respect any need you have for privacy. :D

As a footnote: my horizons are I feel probably broader than yours and I have travelled extensively over much of the planet for most of my life. It is mainly my old crockedness that is slowing me down these days. :D

I admit i sought lots of advice in reference to visa,s and property purchase which were all a great help especially as far as property purchase, as far as adopted country goes australia is merely another place of residence,As far as my trade is concerned it has nothing to do with my military service. I was a zoo curator till my retirement with a degree in zoological veterinary medicine, zookeeping has only been a recognised trade in Australia for 8 years , my training manuals are standards for the trade in Europe and now Australia, My manual of care for native wildlife in Australia is used and recognised throughout australia, Also until retirement was the highest experienced and qualified exotic mammal sedation specialist in asia, one of the last tasks was trainfalconers for steve irwin and the northern territoriswildlife park. nignoy

Thanks Nignoy, an interesting occupation! Perhaps your skills in exotic mammal sedation could be utilised in Pattaya from time to time. :D

I'm still confused. You say "Australia is merely another place of residence". Now you are retired, why do you continue to live somewhere that means so little to you? Surely, now would be the time to move permanently to one of your houses in Thailand or back to Birmingham or Sheffield (or where ever). A place where you can sit in a pub with a pint and other like minded mates and rubbish Australians at will? :D

The world is such a big place,so many friends in so many countries, have not actually lived in UK since 1961 had a couple of short guest apearances there in the early 90,s, a bit to damp and miserable for us, must admit we like to get back to southern germany and switzerland now and then, you have got the wrong idea , I like australia!! I just disagree with a lot of the hypocrisy and corruption that go on here, my wife and I are just trying to grow old as disgracefully as possible and being independant now we do and say what we want, while we still have time and the good health to do it, china and russia areon the cards for the end of next year we enjoyed 18 months in Kazakstan and Mongolia when we were younger ,so who needs birmingham or sheffield :D nignoy

Ok Nignoy, so you like Australia and find the UK damp and miserable. That makes you much more acceptable to an Aussie. It's been a bit hard to get to the root of the matter.

However, I do agree with your thoughts on the hypocricy and corruption here in Australia and definately admire your plans to grow old as disgracefully as possible with your wife. (I had similar plans, but unfortunately found I had to do it solo which tends to make you appear less like a lovable rogue and more like an old perverted fart).

While the elitist Howard government is always fair game, you must realise that sport here is sacrosanct. It is an area that Australia really leads the world (on a population basis) and some of us defend it vehemently. If you want to join the pommy clammer against us please get the facts correct.

(Sorry Chonabot didn't realise it had gotten so long. I didn't think any one else would be reading it )
