LOP BURI: -- A 53-year old Lop Buri native admitted to hitting and killing his friend in the head with a hammer after a heated argument about having a woman as the prime minister had taken the turn for worse.

Sawai Komsingh, 53-year old man from Lop Buri Province, turned himself in to the police on Tuesday. He admitted to hitting and killing his friend, Chame Nathong, in the head with a hammer on Sunday night.

Sawai confessed to the police that he had known Chame for many years. The two men started drinking at Sawai's home at 11AM. The drinking session went on for over 10 hours. After consuming approximately 3 large bottles of alcohol (2.25 liters), the two friends started arguing about past business transactions. Sawai claimed the victim had angered him by bringing up an old business deal between him and Chame's father. Chame repeatedly claimed Sawai owed him money for a plot of land he had purchased from Chame's father 7 years ago.

Sawai and Chame then went on to discuss about politics. Chame told Sawai that he does not want a woman as the prime minister. Sawai told the police that he suspected Chame became dispassionate about women when his wife left him. The two then became engaged in a heated argument with Sawai claiming Chame was the first to physically attack him.

Sawai confessed, in his drunken stupor, he hit Chame with a hammer in the head. Sawai also claimed he tried to seek medical attention to help Chame but got into a car accident en route to the hospital. Sawai went into hiding for a day before he decided to turn himself in.

Sawai also told the police that he greatly admires PM Yingluck Shinawatra and had participated in several red-shirt gatherings in the past to show his support for the premier.

Everyone knows that Thais are known for their skills in entertaining rational, intellectual discussions,

so I think the offender must really have said something very, very bad !!!

Politics can lead to heated discussions & disagreements, but it ain't nothing to kill someone over. I expect the killer in this case has an anger management issue which gets magnified many times over when drunk...plus, he apparently don't like females in position of power. He'll have many years in jail to work his anger management problem and views toward females.

A post with overly derogatory comments about Thais has been removed:

7) Not to post slurs or degrading comments directed towards any group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

8) Not to post extremely negative views of Thailand or derogatory comments directed towards all Thais.

Sad, but not unexpected, and not likely to be the last.

The passions of the Red Shirts are stoked by their ideologue leaders beyond the rational.

These two argued for hours, including about an old family debt misunderstanding,

but he didn't pick up the hammer till his friend started badmouthing the Red Backed PM.

Then the fool saw red, because he's been trained to react to anti PTP, Anti-Red,

Anti-Yingluck speech, and so his Pavlovian response was to use violence.

I think he should sue Jatuporn for 5 million baht for unbalancing his mind

at the rallies he attended. That should get some attention!

RIP Chame,

all you had was a drunken opinion, not something anyone should die for.

It's a political crime. Give the dead man's family 3M Baht and put the killer in the cabinet.

3,000,000.00 baht of taxpayer money wasn't enough so it's now up to 7,750,000.00 Baht of taxpayer money for the Red Shirts.

According to the Cabinet's resolution approved on January 10, the family of each person killed during the political unrest in recent years shall be entitled to Bt7.75 million compensation.

Too bad a guy had to die about this alcoholism fueled session. The most despicable thing about this guy Sawai is that he is trying to save his own ass by patronizing and sucking up to the PM and touting his support for her, as if she should absolve him of crime guilt because he stood around at Ratchaprasong. The value system of Thais never ceases to amaze. That one would think they could align his support for her in the argument that precipitated the murder as rationalization for the crime. and that the press gives this slant coverage. What a society.

Thais and strong drink are never a good mix. Neither is an all day drinking session.

It also confirms that the hot heads do not cool with age.

Uncontrolled, explosive rage the like of which is usually associated with psychopaths and theye come in all guises.

He wants locking away. The booze does too.

Next.

Chame told Sawai that he does not want a woman as the prime minister.

Of course, the correct answer to this was for Sawai to politely explain to Chame that the "woman" is not the PM anyway. She is simply an avatar of the actual PM in Dubai. Therefore, there is no disagreement and everyone is happy.

Sadly, Sawai isn't very bright or honest enough to come up with this retort and instead picks up a hammer and bludgeons his acquaintance to death.

Hooray for red democracy where everyone enjoys the freedom to agree with the red point of view!

The victim disliked the female pm.

The killer is a red shirt.

Don't get them mixed up.

You're right. A prominent democrat leader recently said that females should not get involved in politics as their only goal in life should be to provide sexual services. Nobody in the democrat party ever raised his voice to contradict him. As far as I remember only a female journalist published a column to express her indignation, but that was it.

The female readers of this forum and the admirers of Lady Thatcher, Mrs Merkel, Mrs Clinton ... will appreciate.

I am surprised they didn't keel over dead from alcohol poisoning.

What position within the Democrat Party does this "prominent democrat leader" hold?

Answer: None, to both.

Stone Age country = Stone Age behaviour.

Who you are you to talk about Stone Age behaviour.

My ex Thai GF told you have to be Thai to understand.

So please remeber you do not known because you not Stone age otr Thai

Is you countries killers any better?

Same Same Same Same

The difference is in my country (the US) they use guns, and they kill whole groups at one time. Here it is just a silly argument. There it is a mentally ill man destroying whole communities in one fell swoop. No Thailand is not stone age. Just a couple of drunken fools, with the maturity of a 13 year old.

After two and a half litres of alcohol, anything can happen and frequently does.

I like living here but feel safer in Indonesia. Millions of tea drinking muslims

are more predictable than a country full of alcoholic Buddhists.

Are you serious? The guy goes to a red shirt rally or two and then suddenly he's subject to a blind rage when he hears comments that are anti-red etc!

Lets keep it simple, he and his mate drink 2.25 litres of alcohol, argue and he hits the other guy with the first thing that comes to hand.

But, no, you, like the OP make something special of the fact that one of the protagonists has been to a red shirt rally and you try and score political points out of it - and then to come up with this hare brained theory that it was a pavlovian response to being subjected to red shirt speeches - unbelievable!!

'Sawai also claimed he tried to seek medical attention to help Chame but got into a car accident en route to the hospital'.

I assume there is a drink-driving charge amongst other things - did he leave his friend in the car and flee the scene of an accident? Oh dear - what a mess. The police seem pretty pleased though - it's must be handy when criminals turn themselves in!

Not if you're a 15 year old child in possession of a plant leaf, trying to impress a girl.

Or a pretty runway model, who - somewhat brilliantly - did a Cassius Clay the day she found herself in the middle of a little political thing.

------

And of course, Thailand isn't one imam away from killing you and raping your wife and daughter. Because you - KNOW - that is in the Qu'ran. And you - KNOW - they don't want to redact it. So you - SHOULD - be able to put the dots together.

They want to use it one day. If you feel safe there, you're braver than I am. Not sure I'd approve of your having a daughter there (hypothetically) but then of course I know the Law gives parents the ability to...not to put it too delicately...get their children killed. This happens a lot with religion. But I understand I'm the only person in the world who's actually read those boring History and Holy books.
