When you think logically it is impossible that Iranians are involved. First of all Iran never attacked an other country, besides what interest would there be to make a terrorist attack in Bangkok. And the next question is, who can prove it were Iranians, some people may remember the Mossad assassination in Dubai, where they used falsified passports. Then there is the fact, that in the beginning of this year, Thailand acknowledged the state of Palestine, for which the Zionist jews in Israël will sure be very angry. Other countries doing the same, were victims of terrorist attacks as well, viz. Russia and Norway. So in my opinion the attack in Bangkok is part of a plot to harm Iran again.

Nov 4. 1979 - ring a bell?

Then again I guess they did release the hostages after 444 days. In return for unfreezing overseas assets.

And the answer came in a loud voice..... "LET NOTHING AFFECT THE TOURIST DOLLAR!!!!!'

Thitima denied the incidents were acts of terrorism, saying: "This is not sabotage or related to the travel advisories issued [after last month's terrorism scare] by many countries. Police now know where the [suspect is].

"Intelligence analysis said [the suspects] were arguing with one another, and the incidents are being treated as normal crimes."

"Intelligence analysis" and Thailand are mutually exclusive.

Just determine how much tea money we can get out of this.

Israel fears embassy bombs herald Iran terror wave: press

by Hazel Ward

JERUSALEM, February 15, 2012 (AFP) - Israel blamed Iran on Tuesday for a series of blasts in Bangkok, a day after its embassy staff were targeted in India and Georgia, with press commentators fearful they heralded further attacks.

Following Monday's attacks on embassy cars in New Delhi and Tbilisi, which left an Israeli woman diplomat critically injured in the Indian capital, Israel's main newspapers warned it could mark the start of a series of deadly attacks on Israeli targets.

Israel blamed Iran for Monday's attacks, warning the Islamic republic was behind the attempted bombings, and also implicated Lebanon's Hezbollah militia in a series of failed attempts to target Israelis in Thailand and Azerbaijan last month.

Such fears were reinforced on Tuesday when a series of blasts hit Bangkok, with police saying they believed one of the perpetrators was an Iranian.

"The attempted attack in Bangkok proves once again that Iran and its proxies are continuing to act in the ways of terror and the latest attacks are an example of that," said Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak.

"Iran and Hezbollah are unrelenting, uninhibited sources of terror," he said. There was no immediate indication the failed Bangkok attacks were targeting Israelis.

Despite the rhetoric, a harsh Israeli response was "unlikely," the left-leaning Haaretz newspaper said.

"Monday's attacks were still limited enough that they didn't violate the 'rules of the game,'" it said, indicating they may have been an attempt to avenge the killing of four Iranian scientists, which were widely blamed on Israel.

"If, as is widely believed, Israel is behind a recent series of assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists in Tehran, government officials presumably knew that Iranian revenge attacks were likely and took that possibility into account," it said, noting that both incidents involved "relatively low-level targets" and caused few casualties.

"Israel is not about to go to war over the bombing of a diplomatic car in New Delhi and an attempted bombing in Tbilisi," the Jerusalem Post said.

"But if Iran and Hezbollah continue their efforts and succeed in perpetrating a large attack producing greater casualties and devastation, the government will have a difficult time holding itself back."

Many papers suggested the attacks, which followed several failed attempts against Israeli targets in Azerbaijan and Thailand last month, were the start of a wave of attempts targeting Israelis overseas.

"Israel views both terror attacks yesterday as part of a surging wave of terror attacks," wrote commentator Alex Fishman in the top-selling Yediot Aharonot newspaper.

"It is unlikely that the Iranian intelligence officer in Tehran who is responsible for organising this wave will win a promotion for his achievements so far," he wrote.

"But the existence of this wave means that there are additional terror cells out there in other places on the planet, which are continuing to seek an Israeli target. The order given to make every effort to get Israel to stop killing Iranian scientists has already been issued, and these attempted terror attacks will continue."

On January 13, Thai police arrested a Lebanese man with suspected links to Hezbollah on suspicion he was preparing to attack tourists, with Israel warning its citizens to avoid Bangkok due to "a serious and imminent danger."

A few days later, Azerbaijan said it had arrested three men who were planning to attack Israelis working at a Jewish school in Baku.

Following Monday's attempted bombings, the Israeli foreign ministry raised the state of alert at its embassies to the highest existing level over concerns they marked "the beginning of a wave of terrorism," Maariv reported.

Even in Israel, police raised the general state of alert "with emphasis on security in public places and areas, including foreign embassies and places of foreign interest, such as the airport," spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP.

The bombers in New Delhi and Tbilisi used magnetic bombs -- in what appeared to be an identical modus operandi used by those involved in killing the Iranian scientists.

The incidents took place between the anniversaries of the killing of two top Hezbollah militants, whose deaths were blamed on Israel and sparked vows of revenge from the Shiite militia group.

It is very, very convenient for Israel to blame Iran for anything at this point. They are itching to go to war with Iran, and this is the smoking gun they are looking for. They cannot prove that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, just as the US could not prove Iraq was doing so, in the lead up to the US invasion, of Iraq. The Iranians are no angels. But much has to be proven besides some Iranian cash. Who is to say. The Israels government may be behind this, after all. It all looks a little too convenient.

"Terrorism" applies to specific kinds of attacks, and it seems these fellows would have gotten around to those kind of attacks eventually, but the explosions today don't fit the criteria.

Does conspiracy to commit terrorist acts go down better? blink.png

"Intelligence analysis said [the suspects] were arguing with one another, and the incidents are being treated as normal crimes."

And then we learn that it is standard procedure among Iraninas to settle their differences amongst each other with grenades. The odd ones thrown at a taxi or the police obviously don't count.

This government and their glorious police force are insulting the intelligence of the Thai population and froeigners alike with their stupid statements.

Let's see what all this does to the numbers of touists in the future.

In poor taste and not funny.

I don't know if you are suggesting we should feel sorry for this animal, but he wouldn't have thought twice about blowing the legs off children or innocent passers by, so he deserves everything he got.

Glad to clarify. I was not suggesting that anyone should feel sorry for the suspect. I believe any comment which shows disrespect to any religion is objectionable. Further, that the poster attempted to make fun of a ladyboy in this context was also unnecessary.

The essence of terrorism is its unpredictability.

Usually all the measures that are taken in the face of it amount to "locking the stable door after the horse is stolen". They deter future terrorists from using exactly the same method in the same place.

Not effective, but they give the public, who sees these measures and thinks that at least something is being done about it, a certain amount of consolation. Rest assured that the authorities are doing the best they can.

Israel needs no new reason or excuse to bomb Iran now. The question now is will the attacks work in stopping the Iranian nuclear program and if so, will the benefit be worth the inevitable retaliation. The rational world KNOWS Iran is on the fast track for nuclear capability and also long range missile delivery technology. Iran is not Iraq. Edited by Jingthing

I agree 100%.....in fact, I think the only "good" news to come out of any of this episode is the thought of some moron with no legs being stuck in the Bangkok Hilton for the rest of his pathetic life; it's hard enough living in that crap hole healthy, imagine doing it legless and being known as the guy who tried to blow up a school? Have fun, Haji!

I feel I am missing out on something here, if this is 'normal crimes' maybe I should have a stash o fC4, grenades and bombs in my rented apartment! Does Big C stock these items?

Well other than IRAQ for 7 years.....

And using their proxies to attack dozens of nations citizens.

Iran is agressive don't imagine otherwise.

Unbelievable Thailand.

How long until they start commenting on everything is under control, and worrying about tourism numbers?

All they are concerned about is the tourist dollars, people whether they are thai or farang mean nothing compared to the tourist dollar so they will continue to play it down and sprout that there is no problem no bombings and everything is under control. Thier greatest fear is that embassies will issue fresh travel warnings and thier main plan is to combat those, everything else is secondary.

Get used to ZERO TOURISTS Thailand, you can kiss your tourists good bye.

I hope the tea money was worth it.

Just replace Egypt with Thailand in these headlines.

Egypt longs for tourists to return 14 February 2012

http://bikyamasr.com...ists-to-return/

Egypt feels the slump as tourists stay away 3 February 2012

http://news.bbc.co.u...ack/9691971.stm

You might have something here. No matter what the Thai spin doctors come up with the rest of the civilized world knows that when C4 and radio detonators are found in a house it is not just your usual run of the mill bad guys like these buffoons are saying. They are terrorists plain and simple.

Egypt had terrorist attack directed at tourists, not "bad men" throwing grenades at trees :-).

While it won't contribute to tourist numbers for sure, I doubt we'll see a significant decrease over this.

Then again they always come up with rosy figures anyway....

Sorry, gotta disagree with this also....religion is the cause of most wars and a lot of the misery in the world, and ALL the car bombings, suicide bombings, foolish "holy wars", misogyny, IED's, not to mention intolerance towards anyone who doesn't believe in "their" own particular type of religions nonsense. People talking to their imaginary friends who tell them to go blow up innocent people, or priests who are supposed to be trustworthy but instead abuse and rape little boys deserve our respect? Sorry, not from me.

Do away with all organized religions and this world is a much better place!

It is ok for Israel to use a terror group to kill Iranian scientist, but no ok for some other Iranian group to retaliate against Israel

A scientist making illegal nuclear weapons as contrasted with terrorists slaughtering innocent civilians to make a political point. annoyed.gif

Reports point that although Iran is trying to acquire nuclear technology know-how, there is virtually no evidence they are working on a nuclear bomb.

The reaction by the Thai government to this ordeal just seems surreal to me. Is this really happening? Are they really saying this is just a normal crime? That the Iranians were arguing with each other and then started blowing things up? I'm so confused by their statements and I've no doubt that the Thai population that is hearing all this on the news is equally confused.

I just hope that all this confusion they are creating doesn't give more terrorists another opportunity to cause more causalities to innocent people of all races.

No one is blaming the Thias for this but I wish they would stop playing dumb and start acting more responsibly.

The Normal Thai person in the street will simply swallow all the bovine excreta thrown at that them by the "powers to be" ,this is just a normal every day crime and in no way should any future travelers to the kingdom be alarmed .

alot of Thais arnt even aware what has happen !, i just spoke to a friend whom mentioned the thai news stating a crime was committed by some forigner !, amazing !

Indeed so, the BBC had more news. I told my partner, she scoured the TV and radio channels last night. I still knew more than her.

One expects initial confusion in reporting of these incidents, but 24 hours later, authorities should at least try to get the sequence of events correct. The different versions are wildly apart. Very strange people here.

It is very, very convenient for Israel to blame Iran for anything at this point.

And it is very, very, even more convenient for Iran to be blamed by Israel. This is why many Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated recently by the Iranian Government - in order to give Iran an excuse to use their nuclear weapons against Israel as soon as they are ready. This is why Iran want's to provoke Israel into an attack - so Iran can claim to be acting in self-defense when they nuke Israel.

Excellent post SiamRose. No fooling you! biggrin.png
