Hiv Support For A Thai National?

Featured Replies

My Thai boyfriend and I are living in a condo in Sathorn. We have an acquaintance, a Thai guy of 32 years, staying in the same block. He was diagnosed HIV+ two months ago. He lost his job as he is sick, weak, depressed, has no appetite and has no money. He will be kicked out of his apartment this month, as he is unable to pay the rent. He refuses to go home to the country to his parents, as he is ashamed and scared. We take water and food to him as much as we can but we we are both working and cannot see him everyday.

As he doesn't really have anybody who will look after him, I feel we cannot just let him lie there in his dark room to perish. It is too awful a thought, as my previous partner contracted AIDS in the 80's, and I know what hell he went through, physically and pshycologically. We don't have funds to support him, but maybe we can help him to get some assistance from the Thai healthcare system, if there is such a thing.

Any ideas, please? Many thanks.

Please refer to the pinned topic on HIV above; lots of info there for assistance.

Clearly he will need to go to Chulalongkorn for assistance and will get both medication and other assistance there.

Thank you for the reply, but it doesn't really help me: he has no momey, not even 100 baht, to his name. Will Chula treat him for free? I don't mind paying the small amounts for registration, etc., etc. but cannot pay for his medication, especially on a long term basis. Does anybody know of charity organisations that could assist him?

You could contact the Red Cross Anonymous Clinic/ Wednesday's Friends on Rachadamri road (see pinned information) and ask how to deal with this case.

Also this is a free clinic for msm

Thank you Orchis, excactly what I need! I work almost opposite the BCH and will pop in there for more info...

I just found this website with a quick search so not sure how helpful it may be? There may be others? I'm assuming your Thai partner can utilize this, and other Thai websites, to help your neighbor?

While not convenient to Silom, Srindhorn Hospital in Prawet (On Nut Road/Outer Ring Road) is supposed to be pretty good and reasonably priced.
