New Taxi Scam In Ho Chi Minh City

Featured Replies

Well after 40 years of asian travels it has finally happed, picked up a taxi from bin thanh market to take us to the hotel, caught a normal liveried taxi ,like the ones we have used for years, noticed something strange when we headed for cholon, told the driver he was going the wrong way, he pulled over and sprayed us with cs gas, while we were helpless he robbed us and pushed us out of the taxi,a passerby came to our aid , he also tooka photo on his phone of he taxi rego, when the police arrived , they told us the taxi rego was fake it only had 3 digits instead of 4, and that is the only difference to the genuine taxi livery, so be careful out there folks

That's shocking awful, I hope you're okay. Another one to add to the list ....

That is not a scam.it is plain robbery.Could have ended in murder.

Very interesting ---- then the police did --- what exactly ?????

Very interesting ---- then the police did --- what exactly ?????

was not a lot the police could do apart from being very sympathetic, the taxi was in genuine vitasun livery, numbers were fake, by the time the police arrived the car was long gone, one of the few lengths of dual carriageway was nearby so it was hopeless, and nearly every2nd car in the city ,is a vtasun taxi!!
