Train Tickets: Bkk-Trang + Hatyai-Bkk

Featured Replies

flooding?

1. No train to Trang, train to Surat or Hat Yai and then bus

2. What flooding?

There are trains to Trang from Bangkok. Tickets can be bought in advance at Hualumpong or other stations in BKK.

Same with Hat Yai to Bangkok. Buy them in advance as the sleeper tickets tend to sell out pretty quickly.

No flooding in the south and at this time of the year there's only the occassional shower rather than full blown rain storms.

>> 1. No train to Trang

This is going to come as a surprise to the SRT staff at Trang Station.

(Trains with sleeper cars leave Hualampong for Trang at 17:05 and 18:20 every day, both arriving the following morning.)

SBK really?

I did the overnight Trang to BKK sleeper berth train in December, so I am assuming it runs in the opposite direction. 500thb for the ticket.

Heck of an enjoyable trip too, had a full moon, with beer in hand could hang by the open door and watch the Thai countryside go by. Recommendation, earplugs for sleeping. The clackity-clack of the train is pretty loud.

Train to Trang: I wont slag you, think its been covered.

Concerns with flooding come from VERY wet year and wet previous years from border to Surat. Hat Yai has really had some problems.

Last year train from Butterworth cancelled due to floods. I am sure it was cancelled more than one day but talk about misfortune - two days out of 365 I want to take a train and it is cancelled and I am stuck minivanning it up to HatYai. 1x I had to take a freaking bus to BKK another I got a really crappy berth in a really dire bogey.

Hence, my concern.

Will be taking train up from Hat Yai mid March.

BTW: Phattalung is always in a sorry state.
