quick question........ in older version of windows, i could set a generic format for folders to give me a certain view, and then for a specific folder, set the view i like for that folder. For example, if pics folder, i want to see thumb nails. For folders containing files, i want detailed view with dates / name.

How to do in W7?

Thanks

The Help explains it very well. Much easier than cutting an pasting it here or trying to type it all in.

Thanks... pretty much gobbeldy gook. I could do it easy in older versions, this one, can find folder options, but there is not option to remember each folder setting.

It sounds pretty straight forward to me... http://windows.micro...nd-file-details

When I change my folder view it stays that way until I change it again or some other event changes the view for some reason.

Ahhh....... now we understand each other. Yeh, no probs there.

But i am sure in the older versions of windows, you could

1. set the default view for all folders.

2. then everytime you went into a sub folder, you could change the view, and it would retain that view for only that folder. When going to other folders, it would show again the default view, until you tampered with that folder.

That is also covered in the help. I thought you wanted a more detailed and specific explanation. Before getting to the link I posted, there are many different areas to look at.... including globally changing.
