17-Year-Old Girl Jumps Off Moving Bike to Escape Sexual Assault

HAD YAI: -- A 17-year old Thai girl from Had Yai narrowly escapes from rape by close family friend when she decided to jump off the back of a moving motorcycle.

Together with her parents, the 17-year old girl who's being referred to as 'Ploy' by the police to protect her identity, filed charges against a man known to her family as 'Mana.' Ploy claimed Mana attempted to lure her into the woods but failed when she decided to jump off the back of the moving motorcycle driven by Mana.

Ploy sustained some minor injuries from her fall.

According to Ploy, Mana is a well known face to her family since they live in the same village. Mana, Ploy and Ploy's father were sharing a meal on Sunday night when Ploy's mother called to ask her father to pick her up from the main road. Mana had immediately volunteered to drive Ploy. Since he's a familiar face and has been a frequent visitor at Ploy's home, her father allowed Mana to accompany Ploy to pick up her mother.

On the way to pick up her mother, Ploy told the police that Mana had tried, several times, to take one of the deserted side roads instead of staying on the man road. Ploy then tried to call her mother on her cell phone but Mana stopped her and threw her cellphone away.

Fearing for her safety, Ploy decided to jump off the back of the moving motorcycle in front of the Had Yai University just before Mana was going to turn into a the woods nearby.

Mana drove off with Ploy's family motorcycle, a dark blue Honda Wave 100.

The police has launched a manhunt for Mana.

I'm glad the girl got away with only minor injuries, I hope they catch the motorbike thieving would be rapist soon.

Glad she got away reasonably unscathed though the psychological trama may be there for some time.
