F1fanatic
I have an ordinary 'bike but - a very large box on the back ! It easily holds 3 bags. As LIK pointed out, spending 3000 bht in VM is only too easy and it doesn't need a lot of shopping.... So, to look on the bright side, it is probably just as well I am cutting down on my use of VM! Semper
I spent over 3,000 baht in Villa Market (about normal for me), F1fanatic. I'm a bit curious what kind of bike you have. I mean 3000Baht worth of groceries, where do you stuff all this on a bike? Obviously you don't shop in Villa Market, I can spend 2,000 baht and it ,goes in one bag. Can fit in any bike.s front basket. Care to specify the contents of the bag? We are talking everyday groceries here
LivinginKata
Care to specify the contents of the bag? We are talking everyday groceries here A number of cheeses like Brie, Cheder, Goat cheese. That's a thousand gone. Then add some biscuit to go with the cheese. Quality digestive & crackers. another grand there.
Old Croc
Three or four bottles of wine would take you past the 2000b mark.
MissChris
Groceries Old Croc! I'll never forget the first bite of a French goat cheese I bought there...240 THB for a mere mouthful... Son's fiancee thinks we're mad hogging into brie & water crackers & wonders why the Kraft Cheddar isn't so popular...'it doesn't cost so much at Tesco'...maybe we could translate into rice varieties
KarenBravo
They have imported yoghurts there that are 70 Baht for a small container. Buy 10 and there's 700 Baht gone.

Pretty decent too.

I understand your point though as when I go to Tesco I only spend a few hundred baht. But, that is because there is little there that actually appeals to me, so its not possible to spend/waste money on 'luxuries'.
greenwater
Duck foie gras (700 grams about 2.300 baht) and figs (300 grams about 500 baht)......and a very little bag.
Semper
Yes boys and girls, I get the point. I'm obviously living on a different food budget than you guys.

I'm obviously living on a different food budget than you guys. and there's that desperation for cheese...although I'll try that casino one from BigC. It better not be the same as Kraft Cheddar in the blue box. Bleagh! Unless it's heavily disguised with Vegemite.
Valentine
Went to buy some bread from SAC's yesterday morning, in my pick up, & there was a heavy presence of not so professional security guards all pointing the motorbikes to the designated parking on the Banana IT side. NomadJoe
I leave for a few months and you guys have let Home Pro Village move motor bike parking to Wat Chalong? <deleted> happened? I blame F1fanatic for starting the thread prior to this one complaining about the then 15 and later 30 minute parking next to Villa Market. That obvious pissed them off. ---> http://www.thaivisa....18#entry4623618 That doesn't seem so bad now does it? They have now erected a sign indicating a temporary change of motorbike parking. Here it's more than 2 months later. Seems they are permanent temporary signs. Oh well, gets us some exercise.

So the sign stating they will chain your bike is a bluff then. Good to hear. Be careful about ignoring the guards. A co-worker of mine got a blackeye and bruised rib for doing just that to a guard at Jungcyclon. Once several months ago when I tried to park the big bike in a car space the guard would have none of it and came running over whistle going and set on 11. I suspect the reasoning is the same as before (circa September 2011 around the time of the first thread on this topic started by F1fanatic) which is that when the kamoey gangs are in town motorbikes and stuff on'em and in'em was getting nicked quite a lot. Impossible to keep track of bikes when they are parked all around the complex.
stevenl
Don't know about chaining up. I simply don't park, but stop on the side of the road at the back and get my bread. Takes me about 30 seconds, so not enough time for them to do anything.
