Javascript Is Disabled

Featured Replies

Javascript is disabled and I don't know why: this is a newly (re)installed XP Pro running Open Office 3.3 and Firefox 10.02, browser scripting is enabled, JRE 1.7.0.3 is installed - existing OO documents do not display the OO cover logo's and cannot be opened when clicked, those same files can however be opened using the "open" command from within OO! Finally, the TVisa screen tells me javascript is disabled hence there are functions I cannot use, any ideas, all components described above have been installed, unloaded and reinstalled?

Seems you have two problems:

Java and OO dument linkage.

For the OO problem, right click on an OO Text document , go to Properties , in the display towards the top is a "Change..." button.

Click on the change and select Open Office word processor.

Repeat, if necessary, for spreadsheets you know are OO.

This will map similar extentions (file type) to the program it should belong to.

As for java, it would seem nothing can find it. Try adding the path to the JRE in your evironment variables.

Thanks for that, I'm finally managed to get OO to recognise related documents although I didn't really do anything to make that happen apart from reloading Java yet again. As things stand at present the only software that doesn't think Java is installed is the Thaivisa online program, maybe they're trying to tell me something!

Java and Javascript are two different things. If its a problem with javascript, go into you web browser's options/setup and make sure its enabled. there is usually a button to click. If it is enabled you may have a pop-up blocker or the likes, blocking the javascript.

Thanks - Javascipt enabled, pop-up blocker functioning properly, same results with TV using Firefox and/or Explorer, which suggests the problem is not browser related.

Sorted, conflicting add-ons, thanks for trying.
