Buffalo External Drive

Featured Replies

I have a 1Tb Buffalo external drive for transferring files from my PC to the WD HDTV player for viewing

Normally when I plug the drive into my PC (Win 7) I see two drives

a small cd drive and the main hard disk

Today I am only seeing the small partition.

It has crashed, I thought :bah:

but when I plug it in to the HDTV player all the files are present and playable

I have tried looking at the disk from the Control Panel/Admin tools/Computer management/Disk management

and the drive only shows up as the CD, not the main hard drive

However Paragon Partition manager does see all........... very odd

Any ideas?

Do you use different connections for both the PC and the HDTV player?

If so (probably) then its a common enough fault... the connecter, or bridge to the PC is faulty

The drive itself will be fine, as all files show on HDTV player

Looks like you need a new casing, or someone to renew the connector/bridge

OK Problem solved

Within Paragon I was able to reassign the drive letter and now all seems to be well.

But I would still like to know why the letter was lost in the first place

and why the Windows Disk Management could not see the drive..............

Windows 7? If it is and there are updates for programs hanging there waiting for the next restart then can do some unpredictable things. Best thing to remember with Windows (particularly 7) is if in doubt restart.

Cheers
