Yeah, i was reliably told that he had a contract at Mueng until december on reasonable money , I can only presume some of the indian auction wedge came to mueng. But tbh the 2/3 times I saw him, i couldn't make my mind up wether he wasn't interested or he just wasnt up to it. Either way something wasn't quite right and him leaving didn't surprise me.

He left Muang Thong United a month ago as reported here:

http://muangthonguni...bbie-exits.html

Apparently the Muang Thong United fans really, really did not like him. Especially this blogger, who I would assume is not Thai. I guess a few of these farang are really getting into being mega-fans of Thai Premier League clubs! (nothing really wrong with that, just interesting)

Here's another (hope BK magazine can be linked to from this forum)

http://bk.asia-city..../bye-bye-robbie

quote from BK:

" The mystifyingly popular English-language daily carried a quotation attributed to Fowler: "I want to take responsibility after the team failed to get good results". But Fowler responded by actually saying on Twitter “this quote never came from me in Bangkok Post.” He went on to tweet “The president and CEO of Mtutd know why I quit and it certainly was nothing to do with results." "

So surprise, surprise, showing Thai journalism makes quotes up and Robbie called them on it.

I think the feeling was mutual. Fans here did not like Robbie and I don't think he really loved the club. Best if he just moved on and all that. I bet he also had culture shock and maybe couldn't deal with it. Very different from playing in England or Australia, I'm sure.

That whole league has been canceled/postponed, actually. At least the dates they had scheduled will not work due to lack of venues. Probably will happen but maybe some of the guys signed up will not play once it actually happens, and they'll get some other big names.

This article has a quote from Robbie about it:

http://www.nesn.com/...ones-start.html

"Ah well.. India looks like its cancelled, boots are clean and looking for a new place to play," Fowler tweeted.

Good offer from blackpool, tellls you a lot about a players motives for wanting to play on at his age. If he took the offer he would have shown some serious intent, and not just to be a highly paid bench warmer.

Since he owns enough houses to form his own town i find it highly unlikely that he's playing on for the money.

Perhaps if he takes the deal and dont play then it could be viewed that he just wasn't up to it, but if he signs a contract and dont play, well,,,,,,he was up to it, but things just didnt work out , he walks 'face' or if u like reputation intact
