Disneyland Park Construction Plot Proposed In Thailand To Draw Tourists

I think we are used about the "funny" ideas from TAT or Thailand in general. I agree , there are many things to improve if you want to attract more tourists. The infrastrcutures are here you only need to do a VERY BIG clean up .... remove all hookers bars , oh sorry bars with hostess...have a better city planing , some nice roads , nice pavements without all those street vendors, remove all jetskis , corrupt police , corrupt mafia taxi ... Ad maybe one or 2 casinos to attract people with money ....and let Mickey mouse in the drawer...

Thailand does not need any more things to ATTRACT tourist. What they need to start thinking about is ways to stop pushing them away or to at least keep them here while they have some.

Yep, annual floods and political strife is a far larger deterrent then any park will be an attraction..

Hey, what about just financing improvements at the existing Dream World? Oops, that would involve much less money...

And, yeah, I thought Disney Corp usually made their own location decisions.

How about attracting more tourists by not scamming the ones who already come here?

And a bit more professional marketing but TiT and as for you too much logic being be applied, so you're post-4641-1156693976.gif ...

It should be good for Thailand if they do it right and keep the park safe.

Well that's that project idea nixed then.. Like asking a Leopard to change it's spots.. hit-the-fan.gif

Its far too hot pretty much everywhere in Thailand for outdoor there parks.

Maybe Chiang Mai could work but still pretty hot there too.

Singapore is often cloud covered, different climate altogether so they can work there oddly enough.

Rubbish, its hotter in the location of the original Disney World in central Florida then it is here with the higher humidity bringing the heat index well up over 100degrees all summer, they handle the heat well with shaded areas and mister fans throughout and also have A/C running in the outdoor queue areas. Humid heat is the worst kind and it is not as humid here as it is there..Besides there's always ice cream and slushies  ..

Here is an idea. Stop killing the tourist you already have and others may feel it is safe to visit here. Couples get beat to death by hotel chef and security they put their trust in so what the H*** makes you think Micky Mouse won't bludgeon entire families to death or be poisoned by Cinderella?

Hey, why don't you talk to the Disney Corp first.

Yep and they already have one and it's only partly successful, it's called Dream world and it's Disney junior with an entire miniature Disney theme including their monorail and train rides and Disney products in the stores Disney has no desire to go any larger so quite funny that they would suggest the "Government" build a "Disney" theme park..

^Actually Dream World is a cooperation with Disney and they already have Hong Kong Disney and a much larger park being constructed in Shanghai so why would Disney ever consider building anything else here, it's just more Thailand thinking it's the center of the 3rd world....

BTW I think they mean to say Disney 'style' theme park but it didn't translate well, at least I sincerely hope that's what they meant..

Dream world

Never heard of it. Where is it located?

Hmmm can't say I remember exactly the name of the roads, it's been a few years and we took a taxi but go north on VipHavadi and it's just north of Bangkok proper taking the exit after Future Park towards Nakhon Nayok direction but continuing west and not east, it's about 3 or 4 k's from there on the right hand side so you need to drive past and U-turn back.. Actually it says it's located on Nakon Nayok Rd..

Here's a link..

Theme parks are an interesting but expensive proposal. For examples like Disney, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Six Flags Parks, the draw is "what makes this theme park different?" Once people go to one, they want to see something different, but still on a fairly large scale.. The draw for each park is different. Disney has the rat. Busch Gardens has miniature European villages, each with themed rides and authentic cuisine and even imported candies and artisans from the respective countries, and Six Flags parks have more roller coasters than the rest.

I worked with Orlando resorts, Disney and Sea World in the US, and hope they try something unique here. A good tourist draw could generate a lot of revenue, and if not in Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket could really help the rural economies and help decentralize the country a bit.

The agenda is to resolve various problems that are affecting the tourism sector.

What problems?

I could have sworn TAT keeps shouting that the tourisim sector in Thailand is booming and the numbers of tourists keep going up and up and....

Off topic a bit but there was an amusing story about the employees at Disney Corp HQ in their internal emails referring to their place of work as 'Mousewitz'. When Disney's management found out they issued a warning that anyone using the term in future would be fired instantly. Sortly afterwards emails started replacing it with 'Duckau'.

Hilarious! laugh.png

I am amazed, that most of the people working their had a blxxdy clue as to what it was referring to.

After living in Orlando for 7 years, I think Bangkok is more humid than Orlando. They are both in the "it's so hot I want to scream" index, but I agree planning can overcome climate. I checked relative humidity for both locations, and it's a lot of contradictory information but leaning toward very similar numbers (1-3% difference), and both cities being around 74-76% average.

I disagree, as a Florida native of more then 40 years it is way hotter feeling there with the humidity mostly close to 100% in the summer and that is about 20% higher then it is here by the humidity index.. JFYI I'm currently planning my return to Florida and looking forward to it and Orlando is my location of choice, can't wait to swim in Wakiva, Silver or Rainbow springs in the summer with my boys, a nice cool, crystal clean, refreshing spring.

JFYI My career for most of that time there was outdoors so I have a pretty good sense of what the temp difference is I couldn't even think of not using the A/C where here in Bangkok at least I only use it at night to sleep and fans most of the day elsewhere..

JFYI Averages don't apply either as the dry winter months in Florida are significantly lower humidity then here too with the cold fronts they get so not really applicable as an accurate measure, need to take only the hottest months for example the summer months which work out to much more humidity in Florida..

Very good suggestion, I may be wrong, but doubt very much if the Disney corp. wants a park here and pretty much guarantee they won't allow Thailand calling it Disneyland. Dizzyland maybe. :-)

Too logical and does not fit with Thai pirate culture.

"pirate culture" nice phrase....

As posted previously, they already have a minor Disney park here..

That's exactly what I was thinking, but I'm sure they are thinking "disney like" park.

I'm sure any attempt will make Butlins look as good as Disney world floridacowboy.gif

Come on guys, how would they be able cream off the money.

They've already started building one in Pattaya, it's a Cartoon Network theme park.

Don't these politicians konw what's going on in their country?
