Go to the Honey Hotel. Sukhumvit Rd. Soi 19. Phone: +66 2 2530646. About 1000 - 2000 Baht per night per room. Tell them Chris Lourens sent you. And you can get anywhere you want to go from there by skytrain or underground.

Is $64 a price you want to pay? There are lots of hotels for around half that price that have A/C, HW, TV, Security Box (for valuables,) and Private Bathroom.

Is it hot in Thailand?

It's always hot in Thailand! No snow, no real winter, just sunshine with a rainy season and a less rainy season. January has slightly less rain than some other months. Rain is no real problem, except for the minor flooding in some select areas. Rain doesn't last that long, most of it falls at night.

You only have 5 days. You should be back in town for the last night before you leave. Probably explore Bangkok for a couple of days. There are lots of travel agencies who have a menu board of available half day, full day, and 2 day tours. Always compare prices before you sign up with a particular travel agency. They will pick you up at your hotel and bring you back to it. The River Kwai tour is popular with men and women. Women seem to like the floating markets and pretty things with flowers, ugh!

Have fun.

$64 is the price for Holiday inn silom. because I have been there before. just wanna get a comfortable nice and clean hotel to stay.

as you mentioned, what hotel i can get as half of that price?

actually I have heard Thailand's weather is quite similar wtih my hometown. but till now i haven't been there.

I will be there for relaxation only on my way home for my vocation. might just be in town to see the nightlife and a little city tour.

Following hotels all have AC, HW, private toilet, security box and are close to the Skytrain. Price quoted is in baht (approx. 40 baht to $ U.S.) Price was current 40 days ago, may be slight increase for high season.

NANA HOTEL, www.nanahotel.co.th, around 1200 baht. Across from Nana Entertainment Center (lots of go-go bars and restaurants.)

BANGKOK INN, www.bangkok-inn.com, 749 baht. Close to Nana Skytrain stop. Two other cheaper hotels on this same (Sukhumvit Soi 11) street. They are President Inn and Business Inn.

DYNASTY INN, www.dynastyinn.com, 1090 baht.

NANA CITY INN, [email protected], 900 baht. On Sukhumvit Soi 4, not far from the Nana Hotel.

THAI HOUSE INN, http//thai-house-inn.port5.com or [email protected] for 700 baht. Located between Sukhumvit Soi 5 and 7, in the tunnel, not far from the Beer Garden on Soi 7.

FORTUNA HOTEL, www.fortunabangkok.com, 1300 baht (price includes an "all you can eat" breakfast buffet. Same buffet open to public every morning. Not far from Foodland on Soi 5.

For a hotel not on Sukhumvit and further away from the action, Google FIRST HOTEL on New Phetchaburi Road or the ASIA HOTEL on the Skytrain stop just up from the First Hotel.

The FOODLAND supermarket on Sukhumvit Soi 5 has good cheap food in their cafeteria. Lots of places selling cheap eats in BKK. Even the McDonalds are half priced!
