I would like to get a re-entry permit in at immigration in Bangkok. My question is do I have to go in person or can I send someone on my behalf to submit the form and then get the stamp for me?

I don't really have time to get down there before I leave Thailand for a trip so this would be ideal for me if it is possible.

Can someone else do the 90 day reporting too or does that have to be done in person?

Thanks.

90 Day Reporting can be done by post or someone can do it on your behalf.

Re Entry Permit I am pretty sure has to be applied for in person.

"Must be applied for in person"

It says it on the form.

As stated re-entry in person. However, if you work for a big company then they usually have someone assigned to deal with these things, they will be known at immigration and can do for you.

If not then you must go and do it yourself.

90 days, when do you have to report and when do you leave.

My 90 days is due this week however, I am leaving Thailand on holiday the following week and will not report, but will do 90 days from my date of return to Thailand.

You will then be liable for a 2,000 baht fine for not reporting if they spot it.

Yes that maybe true, but the big word being "if", as we all know some information is not kept on databases, and smaller Immigration offices are left to their own devices.

If I get a fine then so be it, am happy to pay.

Thanks for the replies. That is a shame I need to do it in person.

I don't need to do my 90 day report for a while yet so I can do that nearer the time.

If I got the re-entry permit from Sathorn (Bangkok) and did the application via email/online form would I still have to go in and pick it up and if so does anyone know how long it would take for me to pick it up if I went in first thing on a Saturday morning? Don't want to miss my flight!

In this situation, if you do the report by post how do they fine you?

Last year, I did an incapacitated friends 90 day report at the same time I did mine; no problem whatsoever. This was at Chang Wattana.

If late, they make a note on the computer that will flag you when you exit the country.

Immigration at the Airport do not know what 90day reporting is, and as you should be aware the computers for Immigration are in no way linked together, if they were then there would be no tales of overstay on here.

You will not be allowed to report by mail and will get a notice to appear in person. And 90 day reports are entered into data base so they do know who is naughty or nice.

coffee1.gif There is a desk in place at Swampy where you can get an exit re-entry permit before you leave...but it is not a 24 hour a day thing, I believe it's only open days and probably not weekends. It's really only designed for those who need an exit-rentry permit in an "emergency" (whatever that is).

And, although I've never tried it I believe it's possible to get one in Bangkok the day before you leave either at the airport or at immigration in Chaeng Watana. I would be able to show proof of a booked reservation in either of those cases, just in case you are asked.

Of course, if it's more "convienent" fdr you because of your busy schedule you can always leave country without an exit re-entry permit.

Of course that would mean voiding your extension, and having to do the process of applying for it all over again.

But whatever is the most "convienent" for you.

That maybe at your Immigration office, but at mine, the staff take your documents and just quickly look over them, and give you the receipt back, the computer is not even used.

I was at my Immigration office for my last 90days reporting, a Japanese guy next to me was worried as he was 15 days late, the staff took his paperwork and did not even look at his old slip, no fine, and new reporting date given.

In most such cases the information is later entered into computer system - that is why some offices require copies and others do not. I know there was a very laissez faire attitude toward reporting by many but this seems to be changing and much tighter recently.

They don't. However if your 90 day reporting is by mail. and it does not arrive by the correct date (because you deliberately didn't mail it on time) they simply won't accept that mailed report.

Instead they tell you to report in person...and when you do report...they then fine you for being late.

Basically that's their response to you being an A-hole about it and deliberately breaking their rules.

In other words...if you're intending to have soup for dinner tonight, don't p-ss into the soup pot today.

So if I mail in my next report 'in time', 90 days after arriving back in Thailand which will be July, they will discover that I missed my report back in March and not accept the new report? Quite efficient!

I was told at immigration on my last 90 day report that you have up to 7 days after the reporting day grace period before you would be fined.

That is not very convenient for me I'm afraid but could work for someone else!

Are you 100% sure on that. ?

I was under the impression that since the 2003 incident, ref wanted guy found in Ayuthayya, that all systems were very quickly updated and all ,on line, for want of a better expression.

I may be wrong though
