I want to take my laptop from its usual home in Thailand on holiday to Vietnam....

Both Vietnam and Thailand are 220 volts, but do two-pin Thai plugs go into Vietnamese sockets?

There's a picture in my Rough Guide To Vietnam of a two-pin Vietnamese electric plug for an appliance. It looks an awful lot like a Thai two-pin plug.

And on this website it kind of looks like they should match....

Thank you.

Best to buy a small cheap adaptor in Vietnam for approx 1 USD.

The Thai plug may work in some sockets, others have to be forced, which is rarely a good idea.

Yes they will fit-we moved from Thailand to Vietnam, and all the electrical appliances we brought with us fit the sockets. You don't need any adapter.

most thai plugs will work in Vietnam...no need to worry...there is the odd three prong for microwaves and fridges...just get a cheap adapter like someone said...

availability of electricity can be a problem so watch it...always look for a generator outside the hotel before you book in...no AC makes for lousy sleep...
