Just thought I'd post some information that might be of interest to some. I interviewed at a couple of the top Thai universities a few months ago (set up from back home). I had found previously that there really wasn't much information regarding salary, etc. on the web. The following is the salary/benefits I was offered at both universities (similar salary set-ups). This is for lecturing in the "International Colleges" within the universities (taught in english) in Bachelor and Masters degree programs like business, economics, etc.

(These salaries are for a course load of 18 credit hours per year, i.e. 9 lecture hours per week each semester)

Here is the salary breakdown:

Base salary: Masters Degree = 18,349 baht/month

Phd. = 24,000 baht/month

Housing allowance: = 6,000 baht/month + (depends on location of university)

Quality of your degree: = 5,000 - 10,000 baht/month

University experience: = 1,000 - 10,000 baht/month

Annual bonus: = 15,000 baht/year

If a lecturer teaches more than 9 hours per week, the rate of pay is 900+ baht/hour (depends on degree level/teaching undergraduate or graduate courses)

Additional Benefits:

Healthcare

Annual salary increase

Bonus for having research published

Money to travel to academic conferences (domestic and international)

Paid for all holidays (Salary all year round)

Additional paid assignments through the university

The first contract is for a period of 1 year. After that it is renewed for 2-3 years. After that can become permanent (tenure).

Lecturers are only required teach 9 hours/week. most teach at least 15 hours per week (for the extra income I suppose)

Please note that these rates were for the "International Programs" within government universities (not english teaching).

Hope this is useful.
