Trang Moo Yang Festival

Featured Replies

Has anybody ever been to or heard of the Trang moo yang festival? What time of year is it?jap.gif

I lived in trang for two years, and there is some sort of a festival I believe, but I never went, which makes me think it was either v.low-key, or I was on summer break from school. If the latter then it must be sometime in late March or April. I have however tasted Trang moo yang, which is a whole pig bbq'd. At weddings and big events it generally makes an appearance. You can also buy it from some shops that sell DimSum in the morning times.

I have to say though, and I am huge fan or bbq pork and crackling, I generally found it underwhelming. Although with all the hype surrounding it, maybe I was always expecting it would blow me away. A nice eat, but I wouldn't travel all the way down south for it.

Now, Trang DimSum for breakfast, from the right place, that is worth a journey.....mmmmmmm

According to the thaihotels website, its every September. I love a good moo yang I must admit, and Trang is a lovely place.

We live in both Phuket and Samui, my girlfriend is from Satun so we travel through Trang every time we go "home" I've tried the moo yang in Trang a few times and enjoyed it. Heard of this festival and just wondered when it was. Would perhaps tie it it with our trip to Satun.
