Air Asia is telling many of its Thai customers to telephone it's Malayasian head office to establish whether their internet booking has been successful resulting in their credit card being charged and to receive their confirmation number necessary to obtain a boarding pass.

They have also removed the facility of checking existing and past bookings on the internet.

They say they have done this because their computer server is unable to cope with the volume of business generated by their latest 'free ticket' promotion.

Air Asia do not substantively respond to email enquiries on the subject of your reservation, at least not within 42 hours.

Well three weeks later and after 10 emails to Air Asia requesting the supply of the details of any confirmed bookings, with no reply to any of them, I still have no idea whether I have a booking or not.

Check here for confirmation of a 20 minute delay in dealing with your international telephone enquiry:

Words fail me , except to say that Air Asia are most definitely no longer have an internet based booking facility because you just have to get on the phone.

Shambles on boarding now shambles on booking! Maintenance?

But 'who owns a very large stake in Air Asia Thailand'? is still making pots of dosh so doesn't give a monkey's  :o

I am sure that you know who is not aware of the shambles Air asia is becoming, as a Thai I do believe that the loss of face such a dire situation would bring on him (and is bringing on him) could be countenanced , but it does illustrate how out of touch with international standards even high level third world mentalities are, and explains why they will remain third world despite apparent herculean growth.

Thailand is full of capital investment and some modern bits and pieces too, shame none of it works much!

I believe the free seat promotion ended in late December. I've been using AirAsia for two years as of this month. I've made well over fifty bookings with them during that time. Other than a little sluggishness during this last promotion, I've never experienced a single problem making a booking using their website.

Yes, the review of previous bookings function is working once again.

Can't complain about that price. I got my share of the freebies while the promotion was going though. Chiang Mai-Bangkok was a little less than 500 baht in fees/taxes which is a great deal. The best deal I've gotten from AirAsia was when they first started domestic operations in Thailand in early 2003. At the then 99 baht promotion fare, CNX-BKK was something like 260 baht with taxes/fees! :o
