Lack of money makes people do desperate things.

Reason being.

Because over here they are Handsum and Sexy and back home they are just one of the many.

If you can't afford "The Life," ...GO HOME!

I know things are tough in Blighty these days but a council flat and the dole's gotta be better than Chonburi remand and being called "Mary."

They will not. A good friend hit rock bottom here and was clinging to just about everything to keep him here in Pattaya. Finally a couple of friends chipped in and give him the money to pay for this airfare and taxi and everything else (among other things paid the money he owed in rent).

If we hadn't done that, I think he would be still here and would be wandering the streets or ended up in a life of crime.

Now he has a decent low paid job back home, but in every email he sends there is always a small remark how he misses Pattaya and wants to get back asap.

Nice you were in a position to help. Hopefully your friend will enjoy Thailand as a tourist in the future.

How about this: The cops caught another Brit with coke, ganja and amphetamine he bought from a bar girl in Bangkok. They forced him to empty his ATM account which held 40.000 Baht. After payment he received the drugs back. When he refused to take them of fears to get busted again as soon as he leaves the police station, he was told: No problem you can keep because you paid already for this. If another cop catches you tell him to call us…

Sounds to me as Bar Stool talk. Was this is a published story ? If so, Link please.

I am sure Mr Palmer new fully the consequences of his actions to being a drug supplier in Thailand as I would also imagine being a teacher he would be well enough educated and not stupid and now he should be happy to accept the courts punishment for his evil crime with dignity and a stiff upper lip.

Of course it is a made up story. How would a bar girl be able to supply all three of these drugs efficiently, specially the coke which is far too expensive to be commonly used by bar girls and would require connections with drug dealers who supply hi-so Thais not low class hookers? Also why would some one want coke and ice at the same time. They are both stimulants but it would be like asking a bar girl to go out and buy you a bottle of 1982 Chateau Lafite....oh and please pick up a bottle of Saeng Som while you're about it LOL.

However, even though the story is obviously bullsh*t, the principle is not far off. I know several Thais who have paid a couple of thousand baht at the roadside after failing a breathalyser and the cops thanked them politely, helped them to their cars, waied them and told them to drive safely.

4000 baht!

Nice to see they are concentrating on the "Big" dealers. laugh.png

Read it again. 4000 Baht was the amount to be bought in the sting but he was actually caught with over 20g which is worth a lot more than 4000 I believe

Noting from the picture that the drug seemed to be in powder form, rather than tablets like yaa baa, I was curious as to how it was administered and found these fascinating facts from Wikipedia.

I wondered if Mr Palmer was in the habit of teaching his students about booty bumps and potato thumping during conversation practice. If he has not yet turned seropositive, it will probably be only a matter of time in prison. Luckily for him "yaa ice" is apparently as readily available in Thai prisons for those with money as it is on the outside.

Suppository

Suppository (anal or vaginal insertion) is a less popular method of administration used in the community with comparatively little research into its effects.[ Information on its use is largely anecdotal with reports of increased sexual pleasure and the effects of the drug lasting longer, though as methamphetamine is centrally active in the brain, these effects are likely experienced through the higher bioavailability of the drug in the bloodstream (second to injection) and the faster onset of action (than insufflation). Nicknames for the route of administration within some methamphetamine communities include a "butt rocket", a "booty bump", "potato thumping", "turkey basting", "plugging", "boofing", "suitcasing", "hooping", "keistering", "shafting", "bumming", and "shelving" (vaginal).

Risk of sexually transmitted disease

Men who use methamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine, are twice as likely to have unprotected sex than those who are drug naive, according to British research. American psychologist Perry N. Halkitis performed an analysis using data collected from community-based participants among gay and bisexual men to examine the associations between their methamphetamine use and sexual risk taking behaviors. Methamphetamine use was found to be related to higher frequencies of unprotected sexual intercourse in both HIV-positive and unknown casual partners in the study population. The association between methamphetamine use and unprotected acts were also more pronounced in HIV-positive participants. These findings suggested that methamphetamine use and engagement in unprotected anal intercourse are co-occurring risk behaviors that potentially heighten the risk of HIV transmission among gay and bisexual men. Methamphetamine allows users of both sexes to engage in prolonged sexual activity, which may cause genital sores and abrasions. Methamphetamine can also cause sores and abrasions in the mouth via bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding), which can turn typically low-risk sex acts, such as oral sex, into high-risk sexual activity. As with the injection of any drug, if a group of users share a common needle, blood-borne diseases, such as HIV or hepatitis, can be transmitted. The level of needle sharing among methamphetamine users is similar to that among other drug injection users.

It doesn't say yaa baa. It says yaa ice, which is also known as crystal meth cos it looks like small crystals, or errrrr ice.

It's crystal methamphetamine. It is usually smoked in a glass pipe, not stuffed up ur ass!!

I guess this guy watched too much breaking bad, a tv series about a high school teacher in the US who starts an ice making empire.

I have witnessed a shakedown where someone I was out with was pulled aside by 2 BiB and searched. They found an empty (some grains left) bag of coke. They was not interested in going to the station, only asking how much money he has. He paid 5000b.

True story.

With the corrupt police here, why would someone not believe this happens?!?! 300b for a driving infringement, or 5000b, 10000 up for drugs. It's a good pay day for the police.

We didn't say we didn't believe Thai police would give drugs back after being paid off. We said the actually story cited by the poster was made up because the details he inserted into it were lacked credibility. Anyway if the miscreant was a farang without high level connections they would probably take the drugs themselves and re-sell them, unless the quantity was too little for them to bother with.

British School Teacher caught selling class 1 drugs by Pattaya Police

23_04_55_1.jpg

PATTAYA:--A British Teacher who would allegedly sell drugs to tourists during school holidays, has been arrested by Pattaya Police.

Mr. Steven Palmer aged 42 from Folkestone, Kent was arrested outside of his rented apartment in Soi Beokeow in Central Pattaya early on Sunday Morning following an undercover operation using 4,000 Baht in market bank notes to purchase Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”, from the target.

As soon as the operation was complete, Mr. Palmer was escorted to his rented room where a total of 20.54g of the drug were found, along with drug taking paraphernalia, digital scales and plastic bags, suggesting to Police he may be selling the drug on to others. It was determined that Mr. Palmer worked as a teacher at the Singsamut School in Sattahip District. To supplement his relatively low salary, it was thought he would sell drugs to foreigners

very silly man....monkey house for you.

Future English teachers to Thailand should keep in mind.....teaching does not pay well and selling drugs, while profitable will put your ass in the free accommodations of the Kingdom...and they are neither spacious nor luxurious.

no matter how " profitable " it may appear the moment you engage in this activity you start

competing with Thai operatives who can do any manner of private deals with the

BIB and you wouldn't have a clue about it. stupid to even think about it from the beginning

Shame on the Drug Dealing Brit-Cum English Teacher.

No wonder Yingluck is looking East (to China) for foreign teachers.

Of course out of a country with billions of people they would not be doing this ? lol

The "show the cop" defense strategy works. A ticket received in Korat was accompanied by the advice that another ticket could not be administered for 24 hours and if stopped, show the cop the citation. Actually it was like 30+ hours later and the cop waved a free pass upon viewing the citation. On a long trip, 200 baht for speeding is pretty cheap insurance for putting the pedal to the metal with impunity.

The mind boggles....

Have you never been to MBK, Seacon Square, Central Bangna, or any such place and asked a mobile phone or IT shopkeeper for things she didn't have in her shop, only to watch her run off to who knows where and return within a minute or two with what you wanted? It's not like they have to have it in inventory to get it for you.

it was thought he would sell drugs to foreigners

I wonder how many are shitting themselves right now because it is very likely he will spill his guts to police for leniency

idiot

Poor bloke, do any of you out there really think he deserves the sentence he will recieve. Is Thailand reserved for the rich only and out of bounds for anyone who simply has the guts to leave his own country in hope of a better lifestyle and I would bet he never came to Thailand in the first place with intent to do anything illegal.

If the system was fair he would be able to find other honest work anywhere without fear of prosicution.

There's stupid and there's stupid...just don't get it...why???? Of all the crazy things you could do with your life about the last thing you want to do is sell drugs in Thailand.......poor b****** won't know what's hit him.

One consolation is he won't go insane in a Thai jail........he cant he's obviously already insane.

I think exactly the same thing...why do this?? If you are desperate just go home and become a mini cab driveror something....makes no sense...

Are you saying Mini Cabbing is not an honourable Profession, how dare you ! ohmy.png

anyone I know that has been caught here dealing in drugs did the same in their home country, don't know if that is the case here but to me it looks from the news report that he was at least a user which means he sought out a supply line for his own needs in this country so I'm pretty sure not unfamiliar with the drugs trade in his home country either, whether dealing is something he progressed too as times got tough or dealer was his primary focus we will never know - sympathy ' nah his choice and he knew fine well that he would be caught eventually - they all are
