Hi,

I have to do a border bounce (from Koh Samui) by the 1st of July (2012) & was wondering what the safest & cheapest option was?

I've been told about a couple of runs but they sound dangerous & I think I'd rather pay for a flight somewhere rather than sit on a bus all day!

I just need some info on where I need to go & where the cheapest place would be to fly?

Thank you!! :)

- Cheapest way is with somebody doing the trip with his own car

- From Samui nearest border crossing is Sadao (Dannok), Padang Besar or a small border near Satun

- Flight minimum cost as I experienced between 4 - 5.000 THB. Unfortunately an overnight stay required

Hey,

Thanks for the reply!

Do you know who the best person(s) would be to do this?

I just want a safe trip & one where we stop off for breaks & stuff. I don't mind staying over night if it makes the whole thing bearable! I've heard the horror stories & I'm not looking forward to it...I suppose it's the price you pay for living in paradise though aye?!

Thanks :)

If you are doing an immigration visa run it is a bit much with visa run companies, physically and mentally taxing. A border bounce to Satun in a day is not that bad.

Flying from Surat Thani on Air Asia to KL will be your cheapest option, but you will probably have to stay a couple of nights at least.

Correct, their schedule means 2 nights in KL. Cost ....around THB 3,000 for the flights.

Firefly from Samui to KL cost ..... around THB 7,000. Plus one overnight stay.

BA from Samui to KL cost .... around THB 9,000. Plus one overnight stay.

Also there is a pinned thread on this forum. Maybe post your requirements there and see if there is anyone else wanting to drive and share the costs?

Samui Bangkok,

Bangkok Macau, spend night in casino fly with air asia.

return ealiest flight to bangkok.

night in bangers. then down back to samui by train unless u r in a hurry then you could rent a car with avis, budget, hertz they have national rentals and drive.

the amount you would spend on a plane be not much differnece in renting a car for a few days.

i have to go out for the 2nd but can go earlier, if we find two others to join we can rent a car at avis usually it costs 1500 per person for the entire trip.

we did it many times, i know the way by heart :)

Hey,

That's a great idea, i'm Kerrys friend and she's asked me to help her find people as she's new to the island. I'll post it on my facebook and see if there's any takers - brilliant! Thank you!

I have deleted a post recommending a visa run company. Sorry but it is no longer our policy to let posts recommending them stand.

I have mentioned this previously Thaivisa is not interested in any Visa Run companies.

We have a dedicated thread for members organising a private run here please use.

By posting in the general part of the Samui forum, it will disappear.

Thank you.

1 night in Danork is unfurtunate, 2-3 nights is essential, what a place. drive down in hire car R & R in Danork then leisurly drive back. i once booked a Samui-phuket-sin-samui all duable in a day, a BA screw up meant they alllowed me to go and come back on the same plane.

smile.png Danok a re light border town for Malay and S'porian. Nothing interesting there. Hat Yai offers at least some good shopping as well entertaining. Padang Besar is the fasted border crossing. Most time required is moving between Thai immigration point and Malay immigration point. Never stay in a waiting line as normally happen in Danok.

We used to be on countdown to a visit to Danork, it is worth a visit for guys night out. Extremelly nice hotels and very reasonable prices. I have a flight booked down from BKK especially to visit Danork in July. Special AA deal at 100 each way, but give it ago if you like fun style entertainment. 3-4 friends hire a car leisurly drive down 1 and if my friend could squeeze 2 nights off in Danork, then drive back to ferry. Its a good place to sit and watch the world go by and see another side of Thailand and another culture on vaccation. I was some times the only white face in town but everybody was very friendly.
