[Myanmar] Govt Accuses Kia Of Crippling Power Grid

Burma’s state-run media said on Sunday that the country’s electricity grid had been hit by a series of attacks by the ethic Kachin Independence Army (KIA), who were accused of blowing up four transmission towers in Namkham in northern Shan State over the weekend. According to The New Light of Myanmar, the towers were brought down by mine blasts, reducing the supply of electricity by 200 megawatts. In Rangoon, officials announced plans to cut off power to the city’s industrial zones and reduce availability in the rest of the city to alternating six-hour intervals.
