Hello,

It is that time of the year again where i am trying to get a new Non-Immigrant Visa for the following 15 months in Thailand. The company i am using to give me an invite to get a Non-Imm(cool.png has informed me that in the last 2 months the rules have again changed in the UK with regards to getting a Business vareity of the Non-Immigrant visa.

According to the Hull website the following now applies according to Abb Additional Evidence for Non-Immigrant Visa updated on 29/03/2012:

ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE FOR NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS

“EVIDENCE REQUIRED TO SUBSTANTIATE PURPOSE OF VISIT”

Category “B”

--------------------------
  1. Conducting business in Thailand as an employee of a non Thai company (ie a business

based outside Thailand)

Evidence required:

  • Supporting Letter from the company which you are employed by or which you

35]are representing
and
an Invitation Letter from Thai company.

Please note that either a single or multiple entry visa can be granted in these circumstances.

or
  1. Taking up employment in Thailand with a company located in Thailand.

Evidence required
:
  • Sponsor Letter from Thai company offering employment – a letter from an

agent acting for the employer is not acceptable.

Such company must provide evidence that it is registered in Thailand.
  • If applicant is to be employed as a teacher they must also provide a copy of

35]their Teaching Qualifications
and
a valid UK CRB Check.

Please note that only a single entry visa will be granted in these circumstances.

or
  1. Undertaking a vocational training course (teaching, diving, boxing, etc).

Evidence required
:
  • Supporting Letter from course organisation.

Such organisation must provide evidence that it is registered in Thailand.

Please note that only a single entry visa will be granted in these circumstances.

As you can see that now rules out the majority of Business grade Non-Immigrant visas for people who infact do not intend to get employment in Thailand.

I know of one person who managed to talk their way into getting a Multiple Entry just after the new rules were submitted. But they had a 30 minute convosation over the phone and was lucky basically. My solicitor has advised me to either try for an Education Visa or try to apply at some of the lesser known embassys such as cardiff or glasgow where they might not have implimented the new rules yet.

Can anyone give any advice as to how to move forward with these new rules in place?

I am 24 living here with family and hold a British Passport.

I don't read it that way. There continues to be the non-B visa for a person who is sent by his non-Thai employer to Thailand to conduct business in Thailand (not work for a Thai employer)

From the text you quoted from the website of the Thai consulate in Hull:

i dont require a B to do business it was simply the best choice for me since i cannot get an O anymore. Now it seems i will have to get an ED. I simply need a visa to stay in thailand with my family where we all live.

He fails to say if this family is Thai however, or if family has extensions of stay if not; so not sure what is available.
