Leading Thai companies hit Global 2000 list of world biggest public companies

BANGKOK, 23 May 2012 (NNT) – Seventeen Thai companies have been included in Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s biggest public companies, the Global 2000.

Leading American business and financial magazine Forbes has released its annual ranking of 2,000 of the world’s biggest public companies, the Global 2000, in which seventeen Thai companies were included. Leading its compatriots on the Global 2000 list, and thus earning the title of Thailand’s largest company is gas and petroleum tycoon, PTT Public Company Limited, at number 167.

The second largest Thai company on the list is Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) at number 662. At the same time, SCB is considered to be Thailand’s largest commercial banks in Thailand. Other Thai commercial banks included on the Global 2000 list are Kasikornbank, Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Bank of Ayudhaya and Thanachart Capital.

Also on the Global 2000 list are PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, Siam Cement Group, Advance Info Service, Charoen Phokphan Foods, Thai Oil, Indorama Ventures, Banpu, CP All, InTouch, and Thai Beverage.

Meanwhile, topping the list of the world’s biggest public company for the first time this year is Exxon Mobil, followed by JPMorgan Chase and General Electric at numbers two and three.
