Managing A Thyroid Condition In Bangkok

Featured Replies

My wife is managing an episode of Hashimotos and has just recently landed in Bangkok.

She is about 8 weeks in and is on a decreasing course of steroids and a blood preassure medicine to help with the swelling.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Doc or hospital that has some expertise in the condition in the Bangkok area to manage her ongoing treatment?

Thanks Sheryl, how's it work there, do you need a referral or can just rock up?

Any idea what's she charges for a consult?

You don't need a referral, can just make an appointment, either online or by phone.

Her consultation fee will probably be in the 1,000 - 1,500 baht range and then a few hundred baht hospital surcharge will be added on. Don't but medications at the hospital pharmacy, if meds needed have her tell you what and buy at an outside pharmacy. There's a good one within walking distance, on Sukhumvit near Soi 2. Large place sort of opposite the expressway entrance. Exception: Steroids, if she needs more, are prescription only and have to be gotten at the hospital.

If any lab tests are required, they'll be extra. Consultation inclusive of doctor fee and hospital charge 9they tack on something) will I think be somewhere in the $1,000. If your wife has had recent blood work be sure to bring results along as may save unnecessary repeat tests.
