Blockades Of Parliament Not Permitted In New Round Of Street Rallies: Yuthasak

The deputy prime minister said that he instructed the police, headed by Senior Police Adviser Pol Gen Worapong Chewpreecha, to supervise the overall situation and any responses to the the protest, adding that the relevant police officers have already put in place tight security measures to maintain law and order.

Well, I suppose that if PAD adhere to precedent, burning everything in sight, and constructing grenade launchers should be ok. I think that to be fair, PAD leaders should also encourage followers to take bottles of petrol to city halls around the country, might as well go with what works.

Presumably, so long as parliament is not blockaded, the rest of Bangkok doesn't matter a dam_n!

Well they remember PAD at parliament and Somchai and a few others scrambling their saggy butts over a wall to escape. And that of course was over a very similar set of legislative initiatives being put forward by a very similar scurvy crew of PMs.

Deja vue all over again!

Zimbabwe, China under Mao, Germany under Hitler, France in the immediate aftermath of the revolution, Myanmar, North Korea; pls reddorist supporters, which do you want to be?

The way this is going you will end up worse than any of the above. Unfortunately, your education system, which puts 18% of the annual budget in politicos pockets and leaves you all knowing nothing, does not allow you to draw parallels with other murderous regimes that used the poor to get them to power.

Enjoy watching the motorcades while your children starve and your country goes to hell.

Som num nar.

This guy looks like a true snake oil salesman.. would you buy a used car from him?

I was able to find other looks for him earlier.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister and Pheu Thai Party MP rarely seems happy with anything.

Blockades of major intersections in shopping areas should be OK, shouldn't they?

as long as they don't mind being shot, then they'll be fine, just fine.

Are the yellow shirts planning on bringing guns and grenades?

why blockades??? That isn't fair, they even tried to make more available space there, by burning unnecessary buildings!

Also:

Will the red-shirt government send all the PAD demonstrators back to their home-towns peacefully on a bus if they burn down parliament?

you cannot argue with the motive agree 100%

The very reason a nation has a constitution is to provide a rigid set of rules which upon law and society are based - you cannot change it just because you don't like what is says - it then becomes worthless - one step closer to civil war IMO

Yellow-shirts Join Rally Against Reconciliation Bill

BANGKOK: -- Yellow-shirt supporters are turning up at the Royal Plaza to join the protest against the government's push for a national reconciliation bill.

Supporters of the People's Alliance for Democracy started to show up at the Royal Plaza this morning to join the rally against the government's attempt to pass a national reconciliation bill.

Tents and audio equipment have been set up around the area, as some yellow-shirt supporters are selling souvenirs and products with symbolic designs.

Meanwhile, crowd control police have secured the area in front of the Parliament and keep away red-shirt supporters who come to show their support for the bill.

The 36th legislative House session will also take place at the Parliament today from 3 P.M. to 9 P.M., with the highlight being the consideration of four proposed drafts for the national reconciliation bill.

Some 900 police officers have been deployed, with barricades erected at U Thong Nai Intersection to ensure order.

The bill must be VERY conciliatory if you need 900 police to protect you while you consider it.

forceful reconciliation against the will of the other side.....

Reminds me to American "peacekeeping operations" in which they bomb cities.....

PAD Core Leader Arrives at Rally Site

BANGKOK: -- People's Alliance for Democracy core leader Chamlong Srimuang has arrived at the Royal Plaza to take part in the protest against the national reconciliation bill.

He did not confirm whether the rally will involve a blockcade of the Parliament.

People's Alliance for Democracy core leader, Major General Chamlong Srimuang, has arrived at the Royal Plaza this morning to take part in the yellow-shirts' rally against the government's attempt to pass a national reconciliation bill.

He said that the group members, who are now gathering at the Royal Plaza, will begin marching to the Parliament at 3 P.M. to submit a letter asking the House speaker to withdraw draft reconciliation bills from consideration.

Major General Chamlong added that how long the rally will last or whether it will involve a blockade or an occupation of the Parliament depends on the situation.

Yellow-shirt supporters continue to stream into the Royal Plaza to join the rally.

Tents have been put up, with food prepared for participants. Some supporters are selling souvenirs and products with symbolic designs.

Meanwhile, crowd control police have secured the area in front of the Parliament and keep away red-shirt supporters who come to show their support for the bill.

"Some supporters are selling souvenirs and products with symbolic designs."

More red swastika T-Shirts? Flammable effigies of Thaksin and Sonthi? The ubiquitous yellow handclappers? Yellow Rolexes that play Paparazzi alarms?

I think red TShirts aren't to popular at PAD....

Swastika as a lucky Hindu symbol doesn't mean the same in Thailand as for some skinhead Germans...
