Like a prat I left a case for a week at the left luggage office didn't lock it and on collecting it didn't check the contents on collection but when I did lo and behold my coat and about 300 quids worth of watches had evaporated my own fault but just a word of warning to anyone else using the service to be careful I wasn't so hence the situation described

^^ What forum is this posted in Traxter?

My recollection from the few times that I have left luggage at the Level 1 luggage repository is them asking if the bag is locked; I assumed they don't accept an unsecured bag. They also rejected one of my bags when they scanned it because they 'saw' a mobile phone in the bag and they don't accept anything, locked or otherwise, that has electronics in it. I dug out an old mp3 player I had forgotten about, re-locked the bag, they re-scanned it and were happy. Watches aren't strictly electronics but there is something in the paperwork you sign regarding valuables. I mean leaving watches in an unlocked bag?

Leaving a bag ANYWHERE unlocked presents the opportunist thief. There's a thread running about stuff being lifted from someone's hand carry whilst it was unlocked in the overhead locker.

I lost an expensive wristwatch once when my bags were delayed as well. Ceas't la vie

That was in your delayed and securely locked bag no?

thanks for the warning .i will remember it ... i used to leave my bags unlocked on planes ......my reasoning being nothing of real value in them ... ....but then realised how easy to be loaded up with something ...now i dont buy bags that cant have all pockets locked .. cheers

You obviously no better but I always lock my bag at these places and wouldn't put anything valuable in anyway, doesn't mean it's not annoying when someone blatently steals from you though :/
