I'm in Bangkok at the weekend and want to watch the Everton game which kicks off at 12.30 and won't end until around 02.25. Bearing in mind the current early closures can someone please recommend somehere preferably a pub in lower Sukhumvit where I can be guaranteed to see the whole match.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The problem with the Man U bar on soi 11 is that they only sell Singa and one other thai beer but no premium brands

BS, I can tell you first hand that Sing isn't the only thing on the menu, you can get Heineken etc. I even had a few Coronas there.

They must have run out of stock on the day of the Bolton home game/Sunderland beach ball goal when I was there at soi 11

before kick off and had to make a dash to soi 8 for Heiniken.

What time does the soi 8 pub close on Saturdays?

Premium brands?! All tastes like cat's piss, premium or otherwise.

How do you take your sandwiches? Let me guess, only the best premium prawns? :D:)

Ahead Of Our Match Against Everton…RoM

It feels like months since United’s last outing. I’m not sure whether that’s because of the boredom the International break breaks or the need we’ve felt to bury our last game to the back of our memories. Losing against your title rivals is always going to be painful but to lose how we did, at the hands of poor officiating, is even harder to take.

It’s obviously not just the fans that are hurting though, with Wayne Rooney making his feelings very clear to the Sky Sports camera as he left the field. But they need to bounce back now and for Rooney, there probably couldn’t be a better team for us to face next!

When not playing against Everton, I seem to kid myself in to feeling some sort of affection for them. I think David Moyes comes across well and he’s done a great job with such little money, Phil Neville is their captain, they have former reds I was fairly fond of, Tim Howard and Louis Saha, in their squad, and essentially, we share a common enemy.

But on match day, it’s different. Whilst not Liverpool scouse, you remember they are scousers when they start singing about Manchester being full of shit. You hear the dog’s abuse they give Rooney, chanting about him dying and it suddenly becomes easier to dislike them.

United need all three points today without question, to make sure we keep within touching distance of Chelsea and Arsenal. Our time to over take them will come around February, hopefully, but for now we just need to make sure we’re keeping up. It’s November and therefore pretty daft to think of a game as a ‘must win’ but that is the mentality our players and fans will have as five o’clock nears.

Rooney will of course be centre of attention, as always, when we play Everton. You can already play out the goal and badge kissing that will follow in your head, but the most important thing is for him to keep his cool. He was not a happy chappy at Stamford Bridge and if things start to go against us this evening you can imagine him boiling over. A Rooney suspension is the last thing we need, so here’s to him adding to his goals tally, which currently sees him fourth highest scorer in the league. He’s scored twice in the eight games he’s played against Everton since joining us so will obviously be eager to improve that record.

After becoming Bulgaria’s top scorer with two goals against Malta, Dimitar Berbatov will likely partner Rooney up front and will be looking to better him position within the top 15 scorers in the league this season. Given Everton’s bottom half of the table status, you would be wrong to assume their defence has been at fault. Everton boast a defensive record as strong as fourth placed Spurs so it will be Berbatov’s job to get the ball behind their back line.

Darren Fletcher was given the run around when representing Scotland during the week, with that Welsh lad who turned us down showing him up. But he’s now two games in to his recovery from that fairly lengthy injury so we’ll be relying on him to protect our back four, which could be fairly shakey. John O’Shea and Jonny Evans were both hurt whilst on International duty, with Rio Ferdinand being tipped to miss the rest of 2009 by some areas of the press. That could leave just Patrice Evra, Wes Brown and Nemanja Vidic, hopefully returning, meaning maybe Rafael could come in at right back, with Neville still suspended. We’re very thin defensively though so will need Fletch to help out.

Michael Carrick was one of the several players to travel with England for that friendly against Brazil, although picked up an injury whilst there so unlikely to feature for us this afternoon. Owen Hargreaves may be inching closer but the manager believes it’s his lacking confidence slowing him down. So that suggests a well rested Paul Scholes should return to the first team which means I’d rather see Ryan Giggs left out. Bring Giggsy on if we need him but we should trust our younger wingers today. Nani and Valencia to start for me but of course I’d like to see Obertan get a run out. Much to the dismay of others, I’m sticking with my Nani campaign, although it may be in vain given his recent falling out with the manager and whinge in the press.

Louis Saha should get a good welcome from the crowd. Whilst plenty of fans became frustrated with him because of the injuries, there is no denying he is a quality player who worked hard for our club during a trying period. Louis described his move to Everton as “a step down” which reflects his feelings towards our club. He bided his time on our bench, waiting for his chance, and when it came he took it. He never threw the temper tantrum Ruud did and had it not been for his unreliability in terms of fitness, I’m sure Saha would still be here now. The fact he’s scored as many league goals as Rooney and Van Persie this season is testament to that!

Points are the most important thing, certainly, but I really, really would like to see a performance today. We put on a great display at Stamford Bridge and it would be brilliant if we could build on that today. Everton are not having a good season and we need to take advantage of that, score early, and see what we can do to our goal difference. But United are far too unpredictable these days for us to forecast any possible result!

Great result that. Some great football, get tightened up some more at the back, get the forward line ticking a little more, we'll be there. :)

Manchester United 3 Everton 0

Match report from tonight's home win in the encounter versus Everton by Footymad

Darren Fletcher further cemented his position as the key man in Manchester United's midfield after helping the Red Devils to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Everton.

A stunning first-half goal and a superb all-round performance by Scotland's captain helped the Reds to victory over Everton and their biggest win of the season so far at Old Trafford.

The result took United to second place in the Premier League, although this was hardly a free-flowing display by the champions.

Everton's last win at Old Trafford was a 3-0 success in August 1992 - United's first ever home game in the newly-formed Premier League.

They had their moments but United always had their feet firmly on the control.

Fletcher broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. Neat work between Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra on the left ended with an Evra cross to the far side of the Everton box.

Antonio Valencia headed the ball back to Fletcher on the edge of the penalty area and he scored with a magnificent right-foot volley which flew past Tim Howard into the top left corner of the net.

The Reds had to wait until the 67th minute for their second goal and it stemmed from a wild shot by Wayne Rooney from the right side of the Everton box.

The ball flew across the penalty area to Giggs on the left byline. The Welshman drove the ball back into the centre of the box where Michael Carrick scored with a sweet left-foot shot into the bottom right corner of the net from 12 yards.

United made it 3-0 with 14 minutes left. Paul Scholes capitalised on a lucky bounce 25 yards out to feed Valencia on the right side of the penalty area.

Valencia fired in a shot from 12 yards with the ball squirming off Everton defender Leighton Baines and into the bottom left corner of the net.

Rooney clipped the top of the Everton bar with a 20-yard shot after 63 minutes.

Everton looked a better side after Yakubu replaced Dan Gosling at the start of the second half, but they found United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar in fine form when he saved well from shots by Tim Cahill and Jack Rodwell.

At the other end, Michael Owen was denied first by Howard and then by a last-ditch tackle from Sylvain Distin.

After all the International nonsense that was quite a tonic. Bossed it from start to finish. Rafael caught my eye - so much fight in the lad. Pretty good all over the park in fairness. Let's go on a run now. Need to keep Chelski in our sights cos they look strong.

Yes a much improved performance from United and nice to see some goals coming from the midfield. Valencia improving with every game only downside Michael Owen still looks a little off the pace but wil probably get more game time mid week as will Park, Gibson , Nani, De Laet, Macheda,Obertan, Anderson and may we hope for a few minutes from Hargreaves ?, maybe a litle premature.

How poor & negative were Everton yesterday ??

I bet at times it can be horribe to be a Man Ure Fan when Teams turn up week in week out like that, fair enough you have to be good enough to break them down but it's not a competetive Game you're watching a lot of the time..

I'll be amazaed if Everton finish anywhere near where they have the past couple fo Seasons & in fact, they definately won't..

Rafael caught my eye and apparently SAF's as well. When Everton went 4-4-2 and brought on Yakubu, it was clear that they were targeting Raf with hi balls to his side and he was caught out twice, only to have Fletch take his spot.

Well, don't know about you suckers, but i for one am quite happy today. Why? Well....

for one, thanks to Thai TV's terrible coverage, i didn't have to endure a wasted two hours interuption in my sleep.

for two, every team has to lose sometime, the trick is to lose when it doesn't matter so much - last night it didn't.

for three, when we lose it usually gets a reaction from the players in the up-coming games. Watch out Pompey!

and...

for four, the game gave some valuable playing time and experience to some of the younger guys - money in the bank for later.

:) Well that's my silver-lining take on it!

I agree with points 1 and 4. Regarding 4, my understand is we dominated for the most part and their keeper stood on his head. Glad to give the kids some valuable time on the pitch.

Speaking of the kids. I think Tom Cleverly is our Paul Scholes in waiting. Better tackler though.
