A Barrel Of Laughs (But It Does Get A Bit Much)

Logging on to the Phuket forum has become part and parcel of my daily routine for the last few months, yes I will readily admit that I don't post often but I'm of the conviction that if you don't have something worthwhile to say rather stay quite.

Besides the local info, the humorous posts and tongue in cheek commentary I have noted, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this, a particular trend amongst some posters which is so well described by this cartoon I simply had to share it.

Something worthwhile to say?

Thanks for the barrel of laughs guys n girls.

Yeah sums it up really. (Hope I'm not one of the guilty party!)

The funny thing is when I meet people from the board, sometimes their online persona is totally opposite than their real word one, like an alter ego. Then again, sometimes it's exactly the same.

a Picture is worth a thousand words...

@NomadJoe from the top of my head your not one of them. I often see a comment in the line of 'from behind the safety of your PC' or 'your a lounge room activist' and I guess at times it's true that some people create an alter ego on this forum so that they can express sentiments and opinions they dont have the guts or inclenation to in the world beyond the pc/tablet screen. But generally speaking I think the forum is a fair reflection of all the diversities in life and it's so entertaining. BTW do you work in the hotel industry?

.@NomadJoe do you work in the hotel industry?

No I don't.

These forums are full of fools who find it amusing to bicker, I doubt there is one thread that has not been hijacked by unintelligent users!!

Unintelligent users are just like drivers, ask anyone if they're a good driver and better than average and it's been shown in numerous studies that the majority say yes, even though this mathematically can't be true. Same applies to posters.

Is this your attempt 555. Just kidding mate.

I agree about the bickering but if you manage to look past all the couch activist postings there are some pretty decent discussions going on.

You can't blame the users. There will always be people who want to do that. The point is they wouldn't be able to do it if they weren't allowed to.

A forum with different rules is what's required IMO.
