Farangs Vs. Local Officials

Featured Replies

"My husband received a piece of paper from the government telling him he had married himself, when we were trying to get my papers in order for my health insurance. It took them days to fix. Nothing is ever simple or easy or doable in a single trip."

I found that while reading another forum, after I stopped laughing I started to wonder what it is like in Thailand. Mistakes happen in every city, state and country. In Thailand when a mistake happens can they be fixed? I really don't want to get a driver licence in Thailand with my girlfriends picture on it by mistakelaugh.png . 1. I don't have a girlfriend (yet) and 2. no way anyone can mistake my ugly mug as a female.

Do you know if you are male or female?

.

They can be fixed easily usually

On my drivers licence, they spelt the Thai version of my name incorrectly, it took all of about 5 minutes to print a second drivers licence for me once my gf explained the situation

Likewise earlier, while I was doing the test, they'd used my second name as my last name, but that was again just a 5 minute fix once we explained the situation to them before they printed the licence

My brain hurts after reading that and trying to work it out. Are you sure it was the officials taking there time or did it take days to work out want you were on about?

Thank you. Simple mistakes happen and good to see they can be fixed

Depends on who's going to benefit. Years ago my tax records were put under a different spelling of my surname , on a 6 months job, later when trying to claim back some tax the girl in the office used another spelling, one letter different in Thai, no records could be found so I could never claim it. It was only a small amount so I just forgot about it.
