I'm a big Absolut Vodka fan, and I know that some of the flavors are readily available in Phuket. However, has anyone on this forum come across any of these flavors here on the island:

  • Absolut Ruby Red
  • Absolut Berri Acai (usually have visitors purchase this in duty free)
  • Absolut Wild Tea
  • Absolut Kurant
  • Absolut Mango
  • Absolut Orient Apple
  • Absolut Grapevine
  • Absolut Cherrykran

If you've come across any of these flavors on the island, do let me know where. Thanks in advance for your time, and do note, I am not an alcoholic. giggle.gif

No, but yesterday I did see an otherwise smartly dressed Thai lady with a t-shirt with Absolut Vomit written on it. It was a classy looking t-shirt apart from that. I wonder if the lady knew what she was wearing?

madmitch, you are too funny. it's quite possible she didn't know what was written on it. when i lived in japan, people would wear shirts with phrases such as "star motherf*cker", "my mom is a c*nt", "sh*t on my face" ... all very trendy, indeed.

Super cheap has some colored Absolute bottles. Not sure which ones. They even have Stolichnaya.

How do you consume these flavored vodkas? Straight up or mixing with something else?

Soda or with some juice.

Vanilla flavor is terrific with coke.

Thanks. I have never tried those as I somehow expected flavored vodkas to have similar unnatural taste as most of the ciders have.

I'll give one a try someday.

Any other good mixes?

Are you talking the big Super Cheap in Phuket town, or the smaller branches? Absolut Vanilla is great with coke. Absolut Citron is really nice with Schweppe's Manao Soda, Absolut Apeach is nice with orange juice. If you search the Absolut website, you can find all sorts of hints for mixing drinks.

The big one, they have quite good variety of boozes. You could also try the Original Lotus Tesco in the middle of the island, not sure.

Thaks for the mixing ideas. Vanilla sounds still a bit weird for me, but with two votes I'll give it a go.

Back in home we used to have garlic festivals. Garlic candies, ice cream, food, drinks ... surely by now they have garlic mouth wash as well.

At the one end of the walking street there was an bar dedicated to vampires and they served bull blood vodka for customers who came in.

Nice idea for the event, but the drink did not became an favorite.

Thanks so much, I'll try the big Super Cheap. Tesco & Big C have some flavors, but not the specific ones I mentioned in the original post. Do try the Vanilla, you'll like it.

But don't kill me if you don't find these varieties in there. I just saw some colorful Absolute bottles there, not sure which ones. :)

It was time for my 90 day report so I rode around the island as I needed to come down to Phuket town anyway. While touring I went to BigC at Patong I decided to check their booze section. I believe it will be your oasis for the future. Plenty of Absolute flavors, mango included.. and the vanilla, which I bought to my self :) (did not try yet).

Sorry the my phone picture quality is really poor. Hopefully you can recognize the colors of the bottles.

Coming to a bar, hotel and restaurant near you soon... BELUGA VODKA

Forget the rest.

Overpriced marketed swill.

I can't taste the difference between that and grey goose, which is half the price.

High end vodka is a myth. I still enjoy my stolichnaya.

In my opinion the flavours do taste unnatural. Taste like chemicals...prefer to just put the vodka in then add some lime or whatever....

Happy to help an good cause.

I was way too curious and made an mix yesterday. It tasted like.. chocolate? I'm not sure if I like it or not, which calls for further research during the weekend.

As drinking is a serious science, this has to be done right. Trying mixing with various colas, coke, pepsi, big cola, sugared, non sugar, twist with some lime.. and naturally with different ethanol concentrations to really find the best mix available.

Fortunately everybody have different taste preferences so I have to put myself in to the line and do the test by myself. If there results are promising, there might be a need to do an test with another distillation batch, just to make sure that the taste is constant between bottles.

Now, what was the best cure for hangover?
