Sydney Woman Appeals Jail Term: Phuket

However, CCTV footage later revealed SHE (not escorted) had returned to her hotel safely after becoming separated from her Australian boyfriend.

So would I be correct in assuming that everyone is taking the word of the thai police? (the ones that most bash on TV)

No chance that Thai police are trying to preserve tourism?

CCTV footage has not been made available even after she was sentenced?

If I was a judge or lawyer I would be doing more than taking someones word for it before condemning ANYONE

Never take authority as the truth, take the truth as authority.

Having said that, I repeat, I am not siding

CCTV footage has not been made available even after she was sentenced? She is appealing her sentence & is out on bail, so no CCTV would not/should not be released.

Your queries have been responded to and you just do not wish to believe/trust anyone, but carry on with your theories. As you are so persistent, why not phone her parents in Sydney to hear their side of the story and let them know what you think. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

You could have fooled me with your last sentence.

carry on??? wow is that how you get your way? , you have already judged me after what, 2 messages to me, is that how much time it took you to judge this girl guilty or not? but please tell me, you have never bashed thai police, the media, governments, thai people?(do you understand what I meant by bashing them, or do you want me to draw you a picture) so your conclusions are based on what? the people you distrust and love to bash?

where do you get off telling me Im carrying on with my theories.

Trust is a luxury, maybe you can afford it if someone else is paying for it, or are you just doing the buddy thing like a group of gutless punks beating on their defenceless victim, or perhaps your just incapable of thinking for yourself and riding on the back of the masses.

I never asked anyone to trust me, why should I trust anyone or are you a character of exceptional repute?

At least her name has been released. In the UK she would be enjoying anonymity while her supposed attackers name was dragged through the press relentlessly.

15 days....she has gained notoriety now...well done for letting the world know how messed up you are.

Not sure how anybody anywhere else would know about this conviction unless she was applying for some government security clearance job ... except for the fact it appears her family went to the press.

Let her do her 15-days or compensate the driver (if named) with her bail money. I suspect she may be a real piece of work for not just doing this but for lying for days to police when they had video disputing her story as well as appealing the sentence and opening herself up to more time and it seems as the sentence was a bit harsh if she simply did this for some stupid reason (scared of her boyfriend because she was late) and then was remorseful about it. .. I think a typical person who was remorseful would have an option of a fine and be on their way back home.

I didn't even hear about this story until this thread and actually only can find news stories of her being convicted for lying. So, she actually pointed somebody out as being the assaulter? Any news of her providing restitution to him or them? ... Actually I have a bunch of questions. Do you happen to have a link to any news story of this being reported initially where she had everyone believing it was a rape?

Thanks. So, it doesn't sound like this became a news item until after she admitted to lying which it seems the police suspected early on. I was more interested in if the driver's name actually was named in the press as being a likely rapist. Still kind of wondering if she actually identified somebody or just was saying it was a driver .... very big difference in my opinion if you are ready to send somebody to jail for rape to prevent a fight with your boyfriend as opposed to just putting yourself at risk of going to jail and wasting police time.

The convicted liar did not name or identify any driver. She made an accusation against what would be termed "persons unknown". From the news article in the first post of this topic:

Stevie Rochelle Bamford was initially found guilty by a Phuket provincial court on June 15 of making false claims after telling Thai police a local taxi driver, with two other men restraining her, carried out the assault in the early hours of Sunday June 10.

Thanks I was clear because somebody mentioned a drivers name getting dragged through the press.

When is the appeal hearing?

We will probably never be told. How big is the rug and the broom ? I hope not but the average attention span before the grass grows over is two to three weeks. Higher profile cases like this and the unfortunate Michele Smith and the girls in P.P. stay on the front page a little longer.

I guess it's up to the likes of us to ask just as you have done. These cases I feel are bookmarked in the " to do files " of the various countries concerned. The odd email or phone call to your Consul never hurts. I keep in touch with Larry just as a matter of course. Ask him yourself, his contact details are public knowledge.

According to the site that shall not be mentioned she has decided not to appeal but is behind bars at the moment to serve her sentence.

Good for her, smart move. Thanks for the update.

Don't know about bars or it being to severe but apparently she's been moved to Bang Jo already. That's a prison farm Nth island where they grow veggies. for the "Big House". With a bit of luck one or two of the dikes in there might find her " attractive " and give her something to think about.

Apparently her boyfriend who stuck by her during her "ordeal " of sentence and appeal, has stuck by her even 'till now. The guys either got no brains or as we say in OZ, " She must be a helluva good root." Then again I guess not too many 20+ guys think with their big head. Like attracts like.

Hopefully the Australian Government with invoke the Proceeds from Crime Act to ban her from selling her story to the media
