Firewire Cable 400 To 800

Featured Replies

I have searched all the "mainstream" computer shops, on Samui, including Safety Mind (they had one, but was the wrong kind sad.png ).......

I need to find a 400 to 800 Firewire cable, to join my two Macs (USB won't do!)

Just wondering if any one on the Island has one kicking around in a drawer that works & they do not need or knows for sure which shop has on Samui... ?

PM if you can help!

I can wait a month for the Mac guy to go to BKK and get me one.... I am surprised he cannot just order???

but would like to get stuff moved from one computer to another.....

I have tried Ibeats, Banana IT, JIB, and the Computer shop at Big C.... "no have" actually most did not know what it was....

I take it your mac stuff is more than 1 & 1/2 years old if not you should be using Thunderbolt ;)

No surprisingly not, all less than a year old !!! ! first time I have had to use a fire wire cable. I do have thunderbolt connections but for some strange reason the connection is fire wire to connect the two.... odd I know! wink.png Actually it is to get through the Time Machine,.... that term was not coming to me when I made the post! rolleyes.gif

I take it you want to run one pc in target mode from the other via Firewire? Then you mentioned Time Machine, which likely would be an external disk. If so, why don't you simply plug the external disk to the other machine? I must misunderstand something cause it cant be that easy.

Or do you run a Mac Pro with Time Machine as a secondary internal disk, and have no external cabinet to mount the disk in??

The question is "does anyone on Samui have a 400 -800 Fire wire cable, to sell, or know where to get locally"

It's not a diagnostics of what I am trying to do! I just need the cable! wink.png

Thanks!

Ah! the only shop I did not try...and closest to me! .rolleyes.gif Thanks John 1.

I just popped down there, and we searched through all his cables, but "no have" ... But he did know what it was, and is going to order one! I suspect it will arrive in a few days, he's usually very good.

Interesting he has cut his shop in half.... lately...

When it arrives I will get Boyd to come over, from M computer shop (the Mac guy) and have him sort out what I need to do, cos I don't have a clue!!!!! biggrin.pngblink.pngblink.pngblink.pngbiggrin.png I know he'll set me right! thumbsup.gif

Neither of the cables above are what you need. Here is a picture of an 800 cable with the appropriate 400 adapter.
