2013 Kawasaki Ninjette 250 Breaks Cover!

I have the new model and have had no stalling issues. I do however have the problem that many others seem to have. The right side fairing pops out about 5mm, where it meets the front fairing. I see that kawa have revised the fairings so this doesn't happen with newer made bikes, but that doesn't help me much. Had to use a zip tie under the fairing to keep it pulled in, still doesn't look perfect though.

Mac while I dont have that on mine I have read some folks in the US complain.

If I remember right the fix was not too bad

Check this thread & I think this post was the first to mention the fix

Thanks mania, it looks like that fix worked for some but not for others. I'll get my guy to try it and see if it works.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like 200k will get you a good choice of bikes. A N300 or choice of Honda 500s, or a choice of nearly new Kawa 650s. 7 decent bikes to choose from.

Imagine in 5 yrs when they're all on the used market for around 100k.

The N300 is definitely an interesting prospect. Does a pipe an fuel controller get it to 40RWHP?

^ Well colour me green with interest.

btw, the popping out faring that they have revised, how much is the revised part or parts? Could be very cheap to just buy the new revised part.

Actually the popping fairing was just an adjustment for most folks that I have read about.

Although many older ninja owners do complain that they made this new style much more complicated than need be

for taking on & off.

You know for the parts like you say getting the extra displacement may not be too big a deal...depends on

if they share the same crank.

But when looking closely the 300 is quite different when you add it all up.

Slipper clutch

Larger Injector throttle bodies

Not sure as I said about crank

Also for me personally I would have rather they had increased bore & stroke to get the 300cc

Rather than just stroke it & that way they could keep the engine characteristics the 250 had.

Which I like

Or even if they had just bored it instead.

But I guess they wanted a more torque oriented motor

Some good dyno runs here with various pipes. Yoshi comes out best at just under 38hp.

http://www.skagitpowersports.com/default.asp?page=ninjatests

I wonder what the weight is with an aftermarket pipe? Could be a nice, nimble little run about.

Area P high pipe is doing 38.5 but mean mid range dip IMHO

Full systems are knocking off about 9 pounds from stock weight

Mania, I think Indo only got the plain colours last year so apart from the 'bronze' looking one it looks like kawa have just added decals.

I got a rear rack and top box for mine. I had to get the rack specially made as no one had one for the 'new' ninja. I don't plan to leave it like this all the time but just so I can put it on if I need to go travelling.

Mind taking a close up of the upper mount?

Where do you mean exactly? The lower section bolts onto the rear foot pegs as you can see. The upper part is bolted underneath using the holes for the rear tail, with what looks like a reinforced plate that is accessed when you take off the rear seat. I'll get more pics of that.

Thanks that's exactly where I was so ineloquently describing.

Ok sure, I'll take some tomorrow.

I'm pretty happy with it. They did a very professional job. Good welds and a good job on the powder coating. It's what the shop does, so they should be good at making these racks by now. I saw all sorts of big bikes in there getting racks made. Riding home I forgot it was even there.

Cool, that's a pretty competitive price when you consider the CBR500 is 210,000. The 500 is slightly more powerful but the Ninja has the slipper clutch and maybe a slightly sportier design. Tough choice, not 100% sure about these colours though....

Yeah good price as you cannot buy that many horses in power increase for the 250 for 20k not to mention the slipper clutch.

Bit of a pisser too as I specifically asked if this would be available in Thailand in 2014 & was told no way not for at least 2 more years sad.png

I like the red and black in the second set of pics, looks kind of like the ER6 red from a couple of years ago. It looks more orange in the first set of pictures.

Seems like quite a jump in HP for just 50cc extra. That must be measured at the crank but isn't that almost a 25% increase over the 250?

They say the N300 wins, but looking at the graphs I think there'll always be lingering doubts about buying it above the CBR500, at pretty much the same price.

It's getting to the point of which bike to choose, instead of which bike is it possible to buy here. :)

release date ?

Dealer here in Chiangmai said they need to off their existing 250 stock but delivery at the end of this month?

Odd because then he said so maybe 2 months to clear existing orders but I can put a deposit if I want?

Weird because I am there often & often ask about a 300 yet he always said no, no have

Now he tells me they had existing orders? Sheesh smile.png
