Ling Kae Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Hi, I am thinking of taking a return flight from Don Muang to Koh Samui with Nokair. On the website it states Koh Samui landing spot as (Nar Ton Pier), what does that mean exactly? Is that a airport on the island or is it the regular Koh Samui airport, it is unclear exactly where that landing spot is. Can anyone advise me where this (nar ton pier) is and where this flight will actually land and depart, thanks.
carmine Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 This flight i believe lands at Suratthani airport and you get a bus from the airport to Donsak ferry terminal (approx one hour) that catch a ferry that will tale you to Nathon pier, Koh samui. Only Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways fly into Samui airport
Lite Beer Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Nok Air uses the catamaran that arrives at Nathon pier http://www.lomprayah.com/
thrilled Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 If ya want to travel bey air to Samui ,your talking bangkokair
tw25rw Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I did this 2 years ago before the catamaran. Took about 5 hours to get to Chawengfrom DMK.
Ling Kae Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Thank you for the replies. I am trying to avoid the outrages prices of Bangkokair, at 8k per person with 6AM departures it isn't my cup of tea. I think I will take the Nok Air linked service, 5 hours to Chaweng from Don Muang is not bad. Air Asia to Surat Thani is another option. Can anyone advise on how hard it is to get transport from Surat Thani airport to Koh Samui? I mean can we do it ourselves on the same day when we get there? Thanks again.

Ait Asia to Suratthani airport is the best way. Its easy to pick up a bus to Dosak ferry terminal. Takes about an hour. The ferry goes every hour and takes one and a half hours. This is your best and cheapest option
Lite Beer Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Buses wait for the flights at Surat airport. They will take you to the ferry at Donsak and sell you a bus/ferry ticket on the bus.
Ling Kae Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Thank you so much for your replies. One final question, if we were to take the high speed lomprahya cat at 12.45PM from Nathon Pier when would we expect to be at the airport, what time? Thanks Edit: I just found it on their website, it is expected to arrive at the airport at 4PM.
tw25rw Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 The last time I did it, I vowed not to again.. Getting there was bearable, but the return trip less so. Not least having to wait at a waiting point in Surat for at least an hour for a connecting bus. I can't remember all the prices, but after paying for the connecting buses/boat/taxi, it wasn't much cheaper than flying in directly.
