[Myanmar] Mekong Countries Complete Golden Triangle Patrol

Police forces from Burma, Thailand, Laos and China finished their fifth joint patrol of the Mekong River’s notorious Golden Triangle region on Thursday, according to a report by China’s Xinhua news agency. During the 37-hour patrol, maritime police from the four countries also established a contact point to coordinate their law enforcement efforts. The joint patrols started last December in response to the murder of 13 Chinese sailors on last October, allegedly by drug lord Burmese Naw Kham and a group of Thai soldiers. Naw Kham was later arrested in Laos and extradited to China.
