Electric - Is There A Problem ?

Not sure where/what topic to put this in...

Something maybe odd or wrong somewhere ?

Re Sat TV, the old dreambox had to be replaced to a new HD box a month or so ago fine...

New box is connected via hdmi cable again fine, and all works well....

But a possible problem somewhere ? no matter where in the house, switch on a light [have 27 light switches in total] and I loose the picture on the TV for a second, the TV goes blank every time on every light switch anywhere in the house.

The lights upstairs and on a different fuse breaker, then downstairs as are the lights outside on a different one again.

Is this normal with HDMi cable ? is this a problem ? how to fix ?.

If that really does happen with every light I would suggest there is a problem with your electrics.

Dont quite know why a plug socket would be on the same circuit as a light ? or indeed effected by it.

I'm no electrician but sounds iffy to me. I would try plugging that box into a different socket to start with and see if its still the same.

If its not at least you have isolated the problem to that socket.

They are not,

Lights upstairs are on there own circuit breaker

Plug sockets upstairs are on there own circuit breaker

Lights downstairs are on there own circuit breaker

Plug sockets downstairs are on there own circuit breaker

Lights outside are on there own circuit breaker

Pond has its own circuit breaker

Kitchen has its own circuit breaker

2 x air cons [never use] has its own circuit breaker

3 x water-heaters has its own circuit breaker

Appreciate that, but do you know if someone has "tapped in" to any of those circuits, incorrectly, in the loft at some point ?

I had a similar situation with one of the sockets in the kitchen, turned out the elctrical guy joined two wires incorrectly in a junction box in the loft space.

Other than when I had the house build in 2004, I have never been into the loft, I am 2 big to get in through that little hole.

I bought my own 15 fuse circuit breaker board, and all the extra wiring I did myself, directly back to the circuit breaker, all works fine......... only now confused with the TV connected via HDMi and the screen going blank for a second when switching on any light.

Out of interest I unpluged the HDMi cable and re connected the 3 cables from box to TV = no blank screen when swithing on lights, but then cannot get the HD channels clear..... Thankfully non of my 6 dogs can switch on the lights, so no problem, just wonder if there is a problem with the electric ? or is normal with HDMi lead.

Just a quick one, have you tried changing the HDMI lead for another one? Still a bit confused how something on a different circuit could affect though?

Is the shielding on your coaxial cable good? Polarity in the wiring correct (going back to different circuits though, baffling)?

Yep that could be the problem, so far only bought 1x HD Sat receiver, brand new and the cable came with the box. will try to find if anyone in the Village has another cable, otherwise maybe buy a new cable next visit to town.

Always had difficulties connecting to the internet with one of the Dreamboxes upstairs, one day box downstais did not work and came down with the problem DM box, funny it worked and connected 1st time every time.. so that was the network cable from my Router downstairs that was faulty. [both ends of that cable look fine so the fault is somewhere in the cable] so could well be the brand new HDMi cable itself is faulty
