After 4.5 years of apartment living we have finally moved to a house and have received our first bill. For those that know, we are an English couple who don't read Thai. Please could somebody breakdown an MWA bill for me.

The first set of figures are:

3.30

187.00

R1 40.00

7% 16.12 (assuming tax)

Then what appears to be a total with a due date

12/09/2555 246.42

Then a set of red Thai script with a black 0 in the middle followed by 0.00 in the 2nd column.

Could anybody explain for me what each figure is so I can make a note for the future and know how much I am paying.

Thanks

you would need to post the whole thing as some things are missing, but you have used 187 bahts worth of water, the rental for the meter is 40baht. I do not have my MIL's bill to hand so cannot confirm.

The 7% is tax as you stated. I think the 3.30 is the cost for the guy to read the meter.

Thank you for this. That all makes sense. Any idea about the 0.00 as the final figure? Are the Metropolitan Water Authority (MWA) still providing free water for houses under x amount?

OK the first figure is the cost of the untreated water that you have used

the second figure is the cost of the treated water(drinking water) that you used

The third figure covers all sorts ... just a standard monthly charge and doesn't vary with usage

The forth figure is tax

The next figure is the total that you now owe in Baht

The 0 between the red writing shows that you don't owe for previous months

if it was a1 there then it means that you didn't pay last months yet the 00 is the baht that you owe ... nothing

Above the box on the left is the meter reading and on th right is the advance ie how many cubic meters you have used.

last month I used 24cubic meters and the total bill was 255.68 Baht

Thanks. I hope this is useful to other people in the future as I searched hard for this answer, but couldn't find it. I'm surprise to know that I have been using "untreated" water...I hope my wife drunk that ;)

O ......................... you haven't actually been supplied with raw water. That figure is the cost of the raw water ... the 2nd figure is the cost of treating that water ... I really wouldn't advise trying to drink the water for klong Pappa even after mixing it with tap water ... RUFR ........................

Thanks for that explanation. You are a little too informed (not complaining because you have been VERY helpful to me) about all things water in Thailand :) Thanks again. This is a perfect example about what ThaiVisa can, and should, be about.
