Whats the best way to get to ko samui?

We took a VIP coach from Hua hin,our group was lucky enough to have the whole bottom level all on our own, arrived early in the morning at Surat thani? then got bussed to the ferry, seemed very full.

It probably would have been quicker to get an aeroplane straight into samui, and not loosing time with the bus and ferry.

what airports do trips there, and whats the average cost of a flight? i plan on a two week visit this year and would rather get there quicker as to spend the most time there i can.

also, whats the deal on picking up washed up coral?

some nice bits sitting on the beach but wary of taking a souvenier home as it might be frowned upon

thanks

Fastest way is Bangkok Air from BKK to Samui. Around 3500 baht one way. check out their website. 12go also offers cheaper flights to Surat Thani. Fly12go.com is their website.

Not sure about the coral, I know it is illegal to pick live coral off the reef, but broken bits, I imagine if you didn't have a suitcase filled with them you'd be ok. But don't really know for sure.

Bangkok Air is the only company flying to Koh Samui, as they are the owners of the airport! :o

Last time we paid per person almost 4000 baht incl. taxes etc. oneway! The first and last flights are somewhat cheaper. Check their website at: http://www.bangkokair.com/

Next time we go to BKK we will take the nighttrain, first class, costst 1500 baht! The money I save that way I will spend on shopping in BKK! :D

As for the coral ... I don't know ... every country has its own rules about shells and coral!

First & last flights are about 2,400Bht each way.Corals check with your own country if you are alloweed to bring them back in,as for picking them I can't really see it being a problem as lots of places here use them in their car parks as road base.
