[Myanmar] Usdp To Hold Party Conference Next Month

Burma’s ruling party, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), will hold its first ever conference to elect a new leader and executives at its headquarter in Naypyidaw on Oct. 11, said Aung Thein Lin, a Member of Parliament for Rangoon’s South Okkalapa constituency. The conference will be led by Lower House Speaker Shwe Mann, who is also the deputy-chairman of the USDP. The party’s main rival, the National League for Democracy, led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, is also planning to hold a party conference in the near future.
