October 1, 201213 yr CAMPUS UPDATE Korean programme for Thai undergrads The Nation BANGKOK: -- Thai students who want to study an undergraduate degree in Korea should not miss this opportunity. The Korean government is inviting students from 60 countries, including Thailand, to compete for the 2013 Korean Government scholarship programme. Among the total 110 scholarships available, the Korean Government Scholarship Programme for International Students for an Undergraduate Degree is providing two scholarships to Thais. Application must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand before October 15. The programme will provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the countries. The student should study an undergraduate degree course for four years after a preliminary Korean language course for one year. The main qualifications are that they should be under 25 as of March 1, 2013, and have graduated or be scheduled to graduate from a high school by the same date. Those who have already obtained a bachelor's or a higher degree are not eligible. They must have achieved above 80 per cent (out of 100 per cent) cumula-tive grade point average, or must be within 20 per cent (out of 100 per cent) in the rank during their entire high school period. Scholarship benefits including plane ticket, monthly stipend, tuition fees, settlement allowance, repatriation allowance, Korean language-training expenses and medical insurance. The grantee who has level 5 or higher in Test of Proficiency in Korean will receive 100,000 South Korean won (Bt2,775) per month after being enrolled at a university for their higher degree.
