Suzuki Planning Plant In Burma By 2015

Featured Replies

Suzuki Motor Corp is considering investing several billion yen to build a car assembly plant in Burma by 2015, according to a report by the Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily. Seeking to take advantage of growing demand for vehicles in Burma, the Japanese car maker hopes to build a plant with an annual capacity of 20,000 to 30,000 cars in a planned industrial complex at Thilawa, a port close to Rangoon that is expected to receive a massive influx of investment from Japan. The company had expressed interest in building a plant in Burma in the past, but had not set a date.
