loserlazer
go buy a used one maximum 2 years, dirt bikes dont last that long I'd say as the bloke is new to the scene, and the bike is only 1700 Baht then go for it. Cheap and will be a good learning exercise... Sent from my GT-I9001 using Thaivisa Connect App exactly Monty. 1700 thb is a perfect price to pay to get rid of your learning period in Thailand.

VocalNeal
I thoght the above was a comment about the speed of the dirt bike but it wasn't. In any case I looked up the specs.. A good RGV 120 has about the same power as the old Yamaha DT175. So for tooling around in the bush it will do just fine. Sure it won't go up hills as fast as a 250 but it din't cost as much as a 250. As the OP wanted to explore Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance he picked a real challenge.
loserlazer
---------- Forwarded message ---------- . man photos 103k, 136k, 92k looks really concerning. It look like the bike was re-welded. I think it had a hard life. You might notice bike going not straight and stable. But not a big problem for 1700 thb anyway:)
BSJ
Doesn't look ally to me. Probably right, but the frame is defiantly a lot younger than the circa 1975 mentioned above! I have viewed the video a few times and I have no more ideas. Unless the OP comes back and adds a few more pics that is. I was looking at the pix's you posted not the other fellows video! Maybe the other bike has an alloy frame....or an aluminised steel frame! If it is alloy,it's harder get a good repair done (even back in Oz) and alloy suffers from metal fatigue anyway. morganpchai
Can anyone with better google skills find me the engine manual for the RGV120 aka Satria? The kickstart won't turn at all. I want to do two things: A) try turning the crankshaft by hand. open the kickstart and look at the gears. These things have a disctint sound! yankee99
remove the spark plug....Then remove the crank access cover and you should be able to put a ratchet on it. Also if the plug is removed you could put the bike in a high gear and try and turn it with the wheel.... good luck
martindavies
I have found the parts cat for you. It has exploded engine views so will help. Download here - http://www.mediafire.com/?xliy6304rbna4zn

Is the bike in neutral? Edited October 21, 2012 by VocalNeal
seedy
One good way to free up a frozen engine - drain oil, remove spark plug and fill with diesel fuel. Try and have cylinder head horizontal and level so you can fully fill. Do the same for the transmission. Try each day to gently turn it over, both clockwise and anti-clockwise. Leave for a few days - or weeks, whatever is needed. I have never had one yet that would not turn over using this method, And one was underwater for over a year. I am sure your right, but using WD40 or Sonax would be better and quicker.
martindavies
Did you manage to get the engine turning over?
VocalNeal
Maybe it is still full of diesel or the OP is trying to get the diesel out of a 2 stroke crankcase Edited October 25, 2012 by VocalNeal
