sad.png I wouldn't be suprised to see an Assination coming one day.

For the future of this nation and for all the kids in Thailand let's pray for that.

i cannot believe that someone who, would allegedly be of sound mind and intelligence, would actually pray for someone to be murdered.

Do you realise what you are saying?

Praying for murder. You sure you are not part of some wacky religious faith, quite well known around the world?

Yes, an eye for eye is barbaric. Ask anyone of the thousands of relatives of the victims of the anti-drug campaign who were just assassinated without any justice involved at all, many were not even drug dealers and even kids. I am pretty sure that their relatives pray every day for justice (revenge)

Do you classify people who wanted Hitler or Stalin assassinated "wacky" also?

You should research which family authorised and approved it................

And then think again.

Every Dynasty must have a New Generation...

A tale of two dynasties would be more accurate.

One on the wain, the other on the rise.

I don't think Thaksin is on the wain nor are his off-spring that quick to rise.

Thai Cabinet reshuffle sees return of Thaksin loyalists

A Cabinet reshuffle in Thailand has brought loyal allies of self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra into the government led by his sister, consolidating his grip on power as he bides his time before making a serious effort to come home. Thaksin lives abroad to avoid a prison sentence for abuse of power, but is widely thought to be running Southeast Asia's second-largest economy from bases in Dubai and elsewhere through Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Thaksin has set no date for his return which would be deeply divisive. "We are seeing a Thaksin renaissance, with his top people being installed," said Kan Yuenyong, director of Siam Intelligence Unit, a private think tank in Bangkok.

The 23 new cabinet names endorsed on Sunday by King Bhumibol Adulyadej include six members of Thaksin's disbanded Thai Rak Thai party who re-entered politics after a five-year political ban against them for electoral fraud ended in May. Other posts in the civil service and police have gone to Thaksin loyalists including Paradorn Pattanathabutr, who was made Secretary-General of the country's National Security Council and this month said Thaksin was "like a brother".

The Shinawatra family approving it changes little.

Thai politics is not about change. It is not really about politics in the western sense. It is only about which group gets the biggest piece of the pie.

As for Thaksin's anti-drug campaign with the extra-judicial executions, it won him enormous popularity in the more rural areas where the drug selling had reached down into the elementary schools and addiction and the associated problems (theft, domestic abuse, violence) in the villages were no longer capable of being addressed through the police or traditional means. Many of those executed were indeed drug dealers, relatively low level drug dealers, but the higher ups in the cartel in Bangkok got the message and life in the villages improved.

My post was in reply to a post that seemed to proffer that because the Shinawatra family approved of Thaksin's Drug War, it somehow made it ok.

It certainly improved for those families of the innocent by-standers who were "executed" or would you describe this as collateral damage and therefore acceptable.

Slowly, surely, the Shinawatra dynasty tightens its grip

And slowly, surely the entire population are letting them.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" - Edmund Burke

And it is a truly frustrating fact for many powerless people here.

Someone made the highly apt analogy between Thailand and The Game of Thrones series. There are many similarities.

There does not seem to be any group of "good people" fighting the immense greed and corruption in this country.

When you see stories like these daily, there is no hope for this place:

http://www.thaivisa....stifies-to-dsi/

http://www.thaivisa....o-shot-ex-wife/

http://www.thaivisa....in-extradition/

The superrich and over-privileged get away with murder, the democratically elected government is stealing the coffers blind, lies and obfuscation, blatant flouting of the law, bullies intimidating the press, no efforts made to arrest the real criminals.

Why? Because most people in this country are afraid.

Too busy posting pictures of themselves and their food on facebook.

They are too busy trying to be white, too engrossed in the mindless drama shows on TV.

Accepting corruption on all levels,"as long as they also profit from it"

Sticking their heads in the sand and refusing to acknowledge their responsibility.

It is hopeless.

The Tory party are doing exactly the same in the UK,robbing the people to feather there nests, same as most government's in the world, Thailand's no diffrent.

As far as I am aware money laundering is a punishable offence in the UK, particularly if undertaken as a PM and would be removed from office in double quick time.

Making generalised attacks against the current UK government does not put them in the same bracket as Thaksin, who it appears you want to defend with that old smelly cabbage defence, 'they are all at it! Have another go.

Anyone who calls out for burning down his own capitol city, putting his relatives in controlling positions of the government, selling of state assets ilegally to relatives for peanuts, colluding with neighboring countries to start fake wars over temples so your political opponents will be blamed for it I can consider to be compared to Hitler and Stalin.

Or Nero.

What did Thaksin say regarding burning down Bangkok?

Which state asset did he sell to his relative for peanuts?

Which 'fake war' did he start? I presume for this one if you are meaning Cambodia you have some proof rather than just what you want it to be as it suits your feelings.

Even if the answer to the above is all confirmed, you are likening him to someone who oversaw the ethnic cleansing of about 6 million people? I think you are losing all sense of perspective here.

Are you referring to the 2009 Parliament expenses scandal? That had been going on for quite some time and not just by Tories.
