[Myanmar] More Than 100 Missing After Boat Capsizes

Featured Replies

Around 120 people, including many Rohingya Muslims from Burma’s Arakan State, have gone missing after their boat sank in the Bay of Bengal, according to a report by the BBC. Police in Bangladesh said the boat capsized as it was transferring its passengers to a larger ship bound for Malaysia. The incident comes as many Rohingya are fleeing the latest outbreak of violence in Arakan State, where more than 80 Muslims and Buddhists were killed last week in communal clashes. On Wednesday, the UK announced plans to provide US $3.2 million in emergency aid to assist victims of the violence.
